they've headlined coachella. they can headline bonnaroo. i'm not a huge fan, but they are a big band.
You know who else has headlined Coachella? Bjork. She wouldn't be a headliner at Roo either. Different demographic. Now Muse could be easily be a Friday headliner hypothetically or a high profile late night, but they would never be the top act on the bill at Roo.
Muse would be a top 3 act at Bonnaroo. Bjork would be a top 6. Don't forget KoL was a top 3 last year. Also, the Killers and Muse are both much bigger (by any criteria... other than critical success, possibly) than Arcade Fire. Although, the Killers have gone away for a while so they could be slipping.
have we gotten anywhere on the saturday headliner and rap act?
Insider said they are still waiting for a 100% confirm from one headliner. We can assume it's the Saturday night headliner since she's been quiet on the subject.

Ok, I just got home from work to the craziness and have a couple of questions that I hope some of you can answer since it looks like a lot of you were here when insider posted her info.
First, after looking through all 28 of her posts, I didn't see anything about Saturday at all. Did she mention something that I missed? I see a lot of people talking about a hip hop headliner and other things, but don't see where she mentioned anything....anyone help me here?
Second, when she talks about 2 prime time acts each day, is she referring to What HL and Which HL or What PreHL and What HL?
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon

Not to go off topic but the name of his current production was the "Glow In The Dark" tour. It wasn't meant to be a literal interpretation, it instead had to do with the storyline of the show. He didn't interact with ANY crowds on that entire tour. It was meant as a performance art type piece, it was just lost among most people who saw it.
it was totally awesome when caught outside of the bonnaroo set that was so bad. totally awesome.
Yes. I went to one of his "Glow in The Dark" shows and it was amazing, really. I remember watching the news about the roo disaster though, lol. I heard it was because he was trying to get all his equipment for the show and a good intention turned into an inconsiderate one. I'm sorry for going off topic, I just always wondered what people who were there thought. I remember seeing the spray painted "Kanye Sucks" on the news. hahaha. BUT ANYWAY...
And whoever said the Black Eyed Peas are more enjoyable than Coldplay needs to be slapped. It's like saying having a bottle smashed over your head and then shoved up your ass (BEP) is better than just having a bottle smashed over your head (Coldplay).
Also to end the AF vs Muse thing... Arcade Fire's last full tour in the US was not arenas but amphitheaters. Muse played only arenas and headlined several fests... Hell, they headlined ACL and Lolla back in 07 too.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

So maybe the rap/hip-hop headliner is the only other thing we can guess on right now.

Does anyone really think they would have Muse be THE Saturday night act with AF on Friday. Seems pretty unlikely to me.
What happened to those statements from last year like "We have more headliners than we could book". If that were really the case, seems like we wouldn't be waiting on a Saturday show to clench the deal for so many people. I understand AF is huge to a lot of people, but it seems like they're stretching to make MMJ a headliner, and if WSP was their backup for Furthur, seems to me like there were never that many people in the dugout.

I still think it is debatable, but ultimately it doesn't matter. Arcade Fire seems to be much bigger today.

See: last ten pages.
Thanks for nothing.
I'm not interested in more speculation on a message board, BELIEVE ME, I've read plenty of that over the last few weeks. I was asking if I missed something from insider.

also no way are The Roots, with or without John Legend the big name hip hop act on Saturday. last time they played Roo 3 years ago they were billed 18th and with John Legend theyre billed 17th at Jazz Fest, its not like theyve blown up since 2007... if theyre back at Roo again this year they're in the 10-20 range again

i'm thinking so, man. i just wish insider (if she knew) would tell us if the "negotiations" are with the stones. after that i'm good till after the line up comes out. i got my guesses.
Friday Headliner/Friday What LN: Arcade Fire>My Morning Jacket Saturday Headliner/Saturday What LN: R.E.M.>Kanye West Sunday Pre-Headliner/Sunday Headliner: Robert Plant & The Band of Joy>Widespread Panic

Totally agreed. I DO love me some MMJ though and wouldn't miss them even if they weren't considered a headliner.
