I think Deerhunter would be an amazing band for roo, either daytime or (preferably) LN. I saw them recently and it was definitely one of the most high energy shows I've ever seen, but with some truly beautiful, quiet moments in between. Opinions?
I would be happy to see them anytime during the weekend, especially if they landed on Thursday. Not sure if they are too big for Thursday, but they are a southern band that is coming off some big success on the newest album.
I saw them in Dallas a few weeks back and they slayed! Real energetic at points, trippy at others, always demanding your full attention! I would LOVE to see them again in June!

I'd be pretty surprised if Deerhunter isn't there this year. Just makes sense with them being relatively cheap and their new record getting so much acclaim.
Bradford is a genius, just throwing that out there.
Truth, I'd accept Atlas Sound too but I have no idea how those live shows are. Is it just him or does he have a band?
I believe it is just him. I saw him do something for pitchfork tv and it was still great! He really knows how to use his effects to his advantage to get that huge sound.
I went to see deerhunter at this weird private airport/hotel and it was out in the pool area advertised as a pool party. They played out in the open, and eventually it rained, forcing them to cancel the show, but Bradford stood up on the mic for about 20 minutes telling jokes and bullshitting and then invited everyone to come hang out with him and the band for the rest of the night. Had a nice conversation with him and he actually remembered me when I saw them at the make-up show a few months later, gave me a copy of Microcastle on vinyl for 5 bucks! Hands down coolest dude around.
Also I watched that atlas sound thing on pitchfork.tv, really awesome shit. It'd be cool if he did an Atlas Sound LN half solo half with a backing band, or even a half AS half Deerhunter would be awesome.
Deerhunter need to play the XX's spot. I assure everybody will be completely blown away. I have probably seen them 15 plus times and the get better every time. I saw their album release party and it was hands down the best show I have ever seen. Bradford and the whole band are super cool guys and are always out and about town. It is pretty typical to see them at other shows. Also, I saw the Black Lips a couple weeks ago and Bradford played drums on Notown Blues and everybody stormed the stage. Great time. I get jealous because my girlfriend works where they get their morning coffee. Maybe I'm obsessed, but Deerhunter is the greatest.
Only time I saw them was opening for NIN... bad setting, allot of the crowd didn't give two shits about them, but it was a pretty solid show. Their last album was really impressive, as well, so I'd like to give them a chance on the farm, seems they'd be a very good fit.
I've heard nothing but great things about this band, but I've never formally checked them out. Where should i start? I have a few songs from microcastle and enjoyed what I heard, where else should I be heading?

Just start with Halcyon Digest and work backwards. Not a comment on which album is better or not, but it definitely gets more and more accessible with each album.
Here's the big single from the newest one.
I actually saw Bradford Cox at Criminal Records in Atlanta today. Was gonna walk up and say something to him, but he looked pretty engrossed in his album shopping; figured giving him some privacy would be just as appreciated as a compliment.
I would probably recommend Microcastle before I'd recommend Halcyon... both are great but Halcyon is a little too slow to give a good representation of their overall style, I think.

This was one of the bands I was most excited about when I saw them on the lineup. I wonder when they'll play: Thursday night, Day Tent show, or an amazing Late Night (seem unlikely)
These guys have been one of my favorite live bands for the last few years. Tip: If you get a show poster ask to have Bradford sign it. The results will be hilarious.
