Hello, Roo Clue detectives!
Here’s our official clue discussion thread for 2010! We’ll be starting an individual thread for each clue, so this thread is for general discussion of the clues. Let’s try to keep theories for individual clues in the corresponding threads as much as possible. Anybody can start a thread in our lovely Roo Clues sub-board, so if you hear a clue that hasn’t been posted yet, feel free to start the thread for that clue (just try to make sure it definitely hasn’t been posted, as we do occasionally get repeated clues).
I’ll be updating the website as often as I can, so check there for a list of all the clues and our guesses. metrocknroll has been amazing at recording the clues for us, so you can usually hear the audio of a clue on the website too if you missed it. I’ll also be updating this post to link to all the clue threads, although now that we have our own sub-board it should be easier to find them anyway.
We know all this is hard to keep up with when it moves so quickly, but please try to keep the duplicate guesses to a minimum, for the sake of all our sanity! If you can’t read through all the posts, at least check the website and see if your guess has already been listed.
I'd like to remind everyone that with a new DJ this year, all bets are off and we can't really make many assumptions about these clues. So be open-minded!
And last but not least, please be respectful! I think by now we’ve all learned that no matter how confident you are about the answer to a clue, it could always end up being something else. There's nothing wrong with pointing out faults in a theory, but please do it politely and don't just shout down someone's theory because you're convinced yours is better.
Looking back, real roo clues started fairly late last year, didnt they? I think around the 19th or 20th with the lineup on the 9th of feb? I hope we don't have to wait as long for clues! And I hope the lineup isn't an all day event... I wasted an entire day on it

Last year's first clue was on the 14th. 2009 clues started on the 19th but that was after that initial round of clues leading to the Twitter account...I think those started on December 22nd or something.
So yeah, generally speaking mid-January seems to be the pattern, I suppose!
Love the site redesign, PP! I just looked through the 2010 clues on Monday... and once again realized I can never figure them out. So good luck to those of you that can!
The clues got less and less interesting each year.
That's because they got harder and harder to solve. So people like me, who have no capability of solving one of them, would just come on here and read peoples guesses, which were all over the place at the beginning. Most guesses came from the fact that we already suspected groups as possibilties and just plugged them into the clue to see if they worked.
Maybe DJJD is gonna stop giving clues, because we already have a pretty good grasp at bands that are possibilities. last year even wrong guesses for clues, were still bands that we're booked.

Well, it looks like all bets are off now. For anyone who didn't already see it, DJJD let us know that he's apparently no longer working with SP/ACE (or if he is it's in another capacity, idk) so he won't be doing the clues this year.
It would appear that SOMEONE still is doing clues since Radio Bonnaroo was playing some message about clues coming soon, but at this point we have no idea how this is going to work.
As far as I'm concerned, the show goes on for now, but I'm gonna be honest with you guys, I'm really disappointed by the news. I wasn't thrilled with the powers that be hijacking the clues last year, so I don't know what it'll be like this year. I am extremely glad that this happened after the official forums were abandoned because that whole mess two years ago with people on those boards solving clues and Mr. Zimmy and all that was NOT FUN. I can't deal with the confusion of trying to keep track of an entirely separate forum working on clues too! ;D
Anyway, with someone new handling the clues we don't know what to expect and, well, they could turn out to not be fun, y'know? But hopefully if things do change significantly it won't be in a bad way!
Also, thanks for the kind words about the website, everyone! I guess I'll have to yank that Twitter widget now....damn.

As for the clues, it sucks DJJD won't be handling them, but I will be happy as long as we still get some clues. They said we should listen for clues soon, so hopefully it is not entirely dead. PP, thank you for all of your work on this.

How do you think this is going to change the clues. I feel like they might use this as a way of advantageously leaking certain acts, to build suspense, by making some of the clues very easy to solve.

Yo PP, just a thought here..
Maybe you should update the webpage, when convenient, to have the twitter feed for the new clue giver, katieontheair. Not sure if any clue info will be given through twitter, but it seems logical, although it may come from the actual Bonnaroo twitter. I guess we can just wait and see how it works this year.
