That list doesn't include all the bands from the list Gary was referring to. I thought he gave us that FULL LIST for a reason.
Agreed. Note that superfurryanimal's most recent list was posted roughly 25 minutes before Gary's tweet. I think it's likely he had read that post and intentionally referenced the earlier list. Here are the bands listed in on page 59 that are not listed above: Killswitch Engage The Sword Empire of the Sun Opeth Deftones Rodrigo y Gabriela RATM Sufjan Stevens 50 cent Silversun Pickups
This is exactly what I thought when I read it - the list on 59 had to be picked for a reason, and the only reason that makes sense is that we inadvertently KO'd the right answer.

Ugh, this clue is turning into such a mess! But good work everyone on narrowing it down. I'm going to add a narrowed-down list to the website as soon as I can make sense of everything and be sure that it's a fairly definitive list of what's still possible.
;D Dethklok @ Bonnaroo... epic ! Not an avid watcher of the show, but I love "Deth Album II".
So how does the "speckled lad's demise" link up with Dethklok? Sorry, too lazy to sift through 60 pages of posts.
Since I am the one who guessed it first, I will explain. The speckled lad's demise was referencing ron howard, director of Apollo 13. Gary tweeted later to look for a common cast, and Apollo 13 starred Tom Hanks, who also starred in Ron Howard's Splash, a movie about a mermaid. Dethklok has a well known song "Murmaider", so therefore I guessed Dethklok.
Dethklok would be amazing. I hope they are the answer, but I'm not sure. Someone said something about an episode of Metalocalypse involving Ron Howard and I own the first 2 seasons of the show on DVD and have seen every episode of the 3rd except for a few... don't remember that episode at all.

Let's go ahead a narrow things down a little. That way, people that refuse to read more then the last page can at least chime in on bands that are relevant to the discussion.
We can take these off if we go by the page 53 line of thinking. Killswitch Engage page 53 The Sword page 53 Opeth - page 22 Deftones - page 7 RATM - page 53
probable wrong Sufjan Stevens 50 cent Rodrigo y Gabriela
best bets Empire of the Sun Silversun Pickups
So it's these against Dethklok.

Empire of the Sun has been ruled out (mentioned prior to page 53). Killswitch Engage and RATM appear to have been posted after Gary's "nothing" tweet. (Sorry, apparently inforoo believes that the Pacific time zone is 4 hours different than Eastern)
Bands mentioned between relevant posts page 53 and 57 that were included in the page 59 list and not in the page 62 list: Empire of the Sun mentioned prior to page 53 Opeth mentioned prior to page 53 Rodrigo y Gabriela 50 Cent RATM mentioned prior to page 53 Sufjan Stevens Silversun Pickups
Bands posted on those pages that are on both lists: Mastodon QOTSA Killswitch Engage mentioned prior to page 53 Apollo 13 mentioned prior to page 53 Metallica Kyuss Lives! The Knife GWAR Praxis mentioned prior to page 53 Dethklok Picture Bolt Throwers Meshuggah Amon Amarth Tiamat Eagles of Death Metal
Due to the time difference being incorrect for my time zone these bands should also have been in the list (as appearing in both lists):

I ended up just putting the entire list from page 59 on the site for now. Every time I try to narrow it down I get worried that I'm ruling things out that I shouldn't be!

IF we assume that's Gary's hints refer to the band name has to do with metal, these bands from the page 59 list all can fit the bill (albeit some marginally):
Dethklok Mastodon Bolt Throwers Meshuggah Amon Amarth Tiamat Corrosion of Conformity Alice in Chains - (Cantrell has identified the group as heavy metal) Metallica Kyuss Lives! GWAR Eagles of Death Metal - (metal in the name) QOTSA - (not metal in my book but I'm afraid to rule close bands out) 50 Cent - (coins made of metal)
The Jomfru brothers were threatening to upload a song that was supposedly "exclusive" for Dethklok fan day and was not to be released to the general public, thus giving the song a trip into cyberspace. But when one jomfru brother gets shot in the head (the speckled one), his brother then, somehow, escapes, presumably not uploading the song. The "watershed moment otherwise" is how that instance changed him from his "Die for Dethklok" allegiance to the revengencers, a group wanting to kill dethklok...
