Please see my post towards the bottom of page 4 or Scrogs first post in the thread for info on Camp Inforoo VIP 2011 signups. I do need this info because I will be sending out some info by email and an accurate car count will be very important to supreme victory.
As of now we have 67.5 Roosters in 35 vehicles!! Thats a lot of happy smileys we have
Sending me this info can seem like a pain in the but I do have my reasons for needing all the stuff I asked for. The better prepared we are and I am initially, the quicker the bonnaroo beverages will flow into our tummies
Although we are already a large group, the more the merrier!! All are welcome to join us, but we don't know you want to join us until you ask!!
There are a few things to note:
I will be sending out the parking/camping assignments roughly 2 weeks before Roo via email. This will have the meeting point, exact times, parking diagram, and any other last minute reminders.
I have been told by a few folks that they will not be going to the really late shows and would like to be separated from the party animals so to speak. If anyone else would like to be in a more quiet section of camp for any reason, please let me know. Some of us do get just a little crazy, but we do our best to respect all those around us. We will all still be in the same isle of camping spots, but these folks will have one of the ends of camp.
If you will be splitting gear with someone or need/want to be camped next to someone in particular I need to know as soon as possible.
Scrog has a fairly large "monkey hut" he is bringing that can be up to 30 ft long. If you don't have much shade to offer or would like to be close to this monstrosity, please let me know. It will take up a good bit of space down a row, but will provide a large amount of shade. This will most likely be on the end opposite of the quiet kidz corner (FYI I refer to everyone at roo as kidz, you may be three times as seasoned at life as I am, but when I get to camp I will be all like, whats up kidz, how were the shows you saw today?)
Just so everyone knows, the size of our individual spots are supposed to be the same as GA (10 ft in front of or behind your car. This is usually not the case though, it is an extremely generous 10 ft and vehicles typically fit across the spot. We will be arranged down one isle, 2 spots deep. Our vehicles will make a giant box ( ok maybe a rectangle) around our massive area. Sleeping tents will go just inside of our vehicles, as well as your cooking areas, etc. This will leave a very long run down the middle for our common area. We will put up all of out EZ ups, shade tents, tarps in this middle area. Be prepared to share all of the space. One spot may only have one car and one tent, the next may have two tents and three EZ ups. Just because you brought it doesn't mean it has to fit in your assigned area. We are all in this together, please be prepared to share the "common area" for the greater good of Camp Inforoo VIP.
Also be prepared for all this planning to go to hell in a handbasket with the parking folks. We will do our best to keep to our plan, but if the parking gets all screwed up we will still have the same general idea for our camp. This is our weekend, our camp, our people and we will have an amazing time with all these new-to-us camp mates we have.
Please note that VIP doesn't open until 8 am Thursday morning even though GA will open up Wednesday. The area commonly known as BFE in the general admission campgrounds uses the same entrance as VIP and this is usually one of the first sections they fill up. When it does, they close it down for GA and it becomes the VIP way in. Several folks have asked me about going in to VIP Wednesday, but they will not have it open yet. Please plan accordingly.
edit on the time camp opens: cneintn has called and apparently they will have VIP opening at 7pm on Wednesday. We will do our best to accommodate making room for those going in Wednesday, but this is new territory to me. Here is what I see happening: if you go in Wednesday and want to be parked with us on Thursday, be ready for a call from us. We will call when we are getting close to the gate. As we pass through the tollbooths(and this will take some time with 30+ cars, yall drive over to us and get in line with us, get reparked and then once your new spot is claimed, go back to your old camp to get the rest of your gear if you still have any up. This is a wide open topic and any further input would be great.

Yay! I am getting SO excited. I missed everyone! I took time today and caught up with the boards and it was great to remember all of the fun people we met. Can't wait to see everyone and meet new family this year!!! Yay!
Thanks for all your organization Mike D, you rock pretty darn hard.
i wish i knew how to use numchuks as good as my smiley face does:p
Mike D you have exceptional planning skills!!!!!!!
I'm coming in on Wednesday but I thought there would be complications if I went into VIP that day and then came into the line while you are entering on Thursday so I booked myself at the Sleepy Inn & Suites near the parking lot where we are all suppose to meet. But now I'm thinking, if i could save the money I may just stay at the VIP area and then meet you guys while you are entering. But if anyone has any light they can shed into this situation I would be soooo thankful:)

We are in the exact same boat as you. We live far enough away that we need to come closer on Wed, and feel foolish staying at a hotel Wed night when we could camp for free at Bonnaroo. Don't want to miss camping with the Camp VIP group - that's why I wrote "Ask Gary" and also called today to specifically ask when we could come into VIP and was told on all counts Wed at 7. We don't know what do to either.

We are staying at the Holiday Inn off of exit 114 right near the Walmart/VIP Entrance area. At first I felt like the money would be a "waste" as well, but I have a feeling that I will need all of the air conditioned, fluffy bed, rest I can get before the 4 days I will actually be at Roo. It will give me some time to hit up the Jiffy Burger I have been hearing so much about as well. ;D
Morning folks! I know I'm new to the thread, and a little late to the party. Looking to figure out the way to attending and maximizing my enjoyment, and I saw this Camp Inforoo months back...and yes, I'm just now starting to work my gameplan.
So, is there room for more? Currently have 4 VIP (8 people) - as in two gents and our 6 lovely companions. Here's what we are trying to figure out, and it shows how this 'enter Wed night thingie' is making planning difficult.
First, I thought I saw that there was an RVer or two here? - we are still working that issue, but initial plan is to have an RV and 3 tent sites. How close are the RV sites to where the camp would be set up? I know we'll prob have to split the camp site from the RV, and so be it.
The idea of entering Wed night, and then just leaving my spot to meet up at 10ish AM the next morning sounded real promising.
GL you might call them to get a definite answer. I'll harass Gary via twitter.
I have to say this is VERY fustrating. I just talked to someone yesterday morning on the phone & they confirmed 7 p Wed night and when I specifically asked Gary was written the same last week.
I give up. Looking for a hotel Wed night and will drive in with the group as originally planned on Thurs morning. I agree with krstlpeach - I will probably benefit greatly from one more night of good sleep and air conditioning anyway and this way there will be no issues about having to break camp and trying to join the group - I'll be in line like the rest of you
Thought a quick note about what I found out about hotels in the area might be helpful to ya'll out there. These rates are all just for the Wed night (June 8th), and are all what is currently online as the best rates for each I could find.
Manchester Sleep Inn & Suites - $135.99 (advance purchase) Holiday Inn Express - $189 smoking, $217 non smoking All Full - Comfort Suite, Microtel, Country Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn
Monteagle (27 min south of Manchester) Best Western - $89.99 (advance purchase) American Eage Inn - $69.95
I also looked in Tullahoma (18 min west), but all the hotels were either completely booked or were will over $200 for the Wed night.

So didn't this group get to the gates right when they opened last year and the search was supposedly extra harsh? Do we really want to go in that early again?
Post by manyaviolet on May 18, 2011 9:45:41 GMT -5
Chris, we got in around 10ish with very little wait time in line. After our approx 30 minute entry time, we high fived and agreed that alone was worth our VIP money. Our search wasn't harsh at all, but if they see one thing (like a glass bottle) then they go for it and dig in. We had our vodka etc. in plastic and looked organized so they barely glanced around.
YaaaaaaaaY! I am soooooooooooo excited! Mike you are awesome for organizing this. I can't wait to reunite with those of y'all I've already met and meet those of y'all I don't know!
p.s.-Mike, I definitely want my tent set up in the "quiet" section even though I am riding in with you and Sarah. I have to be able to sleep or it won't be pretty (ask Sarah).

We asked for the quiet end too - and we are SUPER excited about our first Bonnaroo and our first music festival ever! We've been reading the boards, augmenting our camping supplies with the suggested items and having a blast doing it.
I love organizing and getting ready. Can't wait.
Um, I don't know if this question is taboo or not, but I looked through all the posts etc and didn't see it mentioned. Is there a non smoking quiet section (please don't stone me)?
Is it too late to join the group? We have VIP'd four years, but only made the inforoo group the first year and it was split up. I think we need to give it a try again! It would be myself and husband.
