Yo guys, I'm looking to broaden my horizon with movies that make you think. Examples of such would be: American History X Donnie Darko The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus Inception (cliche, i know) The Machinist Pi
Feel free to post any suggestions and a brief explanation of what the movies about!

Watch anything by David Lynch, Alejandro Jodorowsky, or Takashi Miike If you want some mind blowingness. Three of my favorites from these guys include Lost Highway, El Topo, and Visitor Q
If you're really looking for movies that make you think, I suggest you track down the documentaries of Errol Morris, Ross McElwee, Agnes Varda and Steve James. Frontline also creates consistently great documentaries.
Documentaries in general are a more cerebral type of filmmaking.
i HATED Kids! i guess if a sign of a good movie is to make you feel something, then this movie wins. i felt horrible and so uncomfortable watching this movie. it totally depressed me and not in a good way. haha
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
As for "Anti Christ" (and yes I know everyone is entitled to their opinions, I'm not arguing) but that movie really disturbed me. There were literally parts I had to fast forward through. So if you watch it, just be warned.

Anything by David Lynch (ESPECIALLY ERASERHEAD).
I've heard good things about Enter the Void also. I wish I could just link you to my Netflix queue because I went through this same phase and I have too many movies that fit what you're looking for so well, but there is just too many to go through.
