Such an unbelievably strong run to close out the album... awesome.
I wish they had gone with Codex > Separator > Ghost
Although I do feel that Ghost is the best song on the album, I think that Separator is a better tune to close the record with. It packs a little bit more of a punch volume wise and that works well as a closer. Although the emotional punch that Ghost packs is unconquerable and it would work well in the 8 slot as well.

i think little by little and separator are clearly the 2 standout tracks on the album. the only ones i find myself skipping are bloom and feral, although i usually just listen all the way through

Am I the only person who thinks this is their worst since Pablo Honey? I really like radiohead, and there's a few tracks on this I really like, but all in all I think it's their least impressive since their debut. I realize it's never going to be like the bends or OK computer. I think it's great how they are moving forward and I thought Hail to the thief and In rainbows was brilliant, but this just really didn't meet my expectations.

You're not alone.
It also sounds like you've never really gotten over the move away from guitar rock. Which is okay. Those albums were really good too.
I think the album shares a lot in common with In Rainbows, personally. I think it's a step in the right direction. Feels incomplete though. Might end up being their Meddle or In a Silent Way.

It's growing on me. I think this might be better than Kid A.
I am enjoying King Of Limbs quite a bit but this a stupid statement. It is way to early to be making claims like this. The album has only been out for a few days.

Its not better than Kid A, that's just ridiculous!
I have been listening to it almost non stop since Friday afternoon and I still think its far too early to say where I would rank it against their other works. If I had to throw an early statement out there though I would say it sits alongside Pablo Honey and Hail To The Thief as one of their weaker albums but again its too early to say.
I will say that the last 4 tracks are far and away the best. In fact, I really don't find the first 4 tracks to be anything special really.

Meddle is such a great album. That would be pretty high praise from me. I've run through the album a few more times and it is still sinking in. I have some songs I like better than others but as a whole I think the album is really solid just the way it's laid out.
Going through this album several times over the weekend, I just find more and more to love. I don't understand how anyone can say this is on the same level as Pablo Honey. Even saying it's on the same level of Hail to the Thief is stretching it. This album is some of their best work, in my opinion. It's definitely not better than Kid A or Ok Computer, but it is definitely up there as one of their most interesting and rewarding pieces of work. The way that it weaves together guitar with glitchy, uneasying electronics and beautiful blooms of orchestration is seamless.
Like I said before, in my early opinion, this album sits itself in the number 3 position to me, right under Kid A and Ok Computer, but I think it's better than In Rainbows, Hail to the Thief, etc.

I know. Subjective opinions are so stupid! Phrases like "might be" are completely definitive!

I've listened a few times and I still don't really like it much. There are a few songs that are ok but most of them I just want to skip through.... I will keep trying!
so far i've listened to it all the way through about 5 or 6 times. i'm still not at that point where i can pull out individual songs to listen to on their own. IT FLOWS SO WELL TOGETHER AS A WHOLE
i know they probably would never do this (really who knows), but i think it'd be awesome if on their next tour, they played like a 90 minute set of songs from The Bends through In Rainbows and then did a 40 minute set of King of Limbs all the way through.

I wasn't calling your opinion stupid. I was simply saying it is way to early to have this sort of opinion.

Hence the phrase might be. And it's never too early to have an opinion. You act as if opinions have to be set in stone or definitive. Besides, why even post anything in this thread if you're not allowed to form an immediate opinion? Shall we wait three or four weeks and then post? Would that be alright with you, oh arbitrator of opinion?

How can one be familiar with something that is new? Are you asking whether or not I'm confusing immediacy with greatness or are you commenting more on the desire to paint past Radiohead as superior just because we are familiar with it and comfortable with the way its Radiohead-ness sounds?

I'm really, really starting to like this album. The band seems like it has been listening to a lot of the same stuff I have, Flying Lotus, Actress, James Blake, Burial and put their own spin on it. This is not a pop album, which I don't think could be said for In Rainbows. That album was excellent, but I love that they're taking chances.

Just talking about how r thinks we need 3 months of constant listening to determine how good an album is. Maybe your first listen isn't always indicative of how great an album is, but you don't need 50 to tell the quality of an album. I think a lot of times people continue to listen to something by their favorite band and end up proclaiming it as great, when really their 10th impression of the album was right.
All the numbers are obviously arbitrary. Just trying to illustrate my point.
1.) This is a concept album that I don't think you can fairly compare with the rest of Radiohead's catalog. It reminds me of Beck's album "Sea Change" in terms of completely stepping away from your typical complete album and focusing on a particular mood/theme. Don't get me wrong because I'm thrilled but this doesn't have enough musical variety to be compared with the rest of the catalog.
2.) This album puts me in a complete trance. I've never zoned out to an album like I have with this one.
3.) There is a group of Radiohead fans that feel this is a teaser for a "complete" album for numerous reasons. If they were to throw in a few heavier songs, then we can really talk about elevating this album into the best ever title.
4.) In Lotus Flower and Give up the Ghost, Thom puts on a vocal acrobatics clinic. These are the best tracks on this thing.
