Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Galactic may be getting too big these days in their own right (I remember when they were opening for WSP back in the day and J.B. said, "look out for these guys they're gonna be big").
Last year galactic was late night in the other tent (granted, late nights were STACKED last year. anyone who was bitching about the lineup went to bed at midnight...i digress) but I showed up late after hitting up a bit of LCD and it was rather empty. I hope they come back though, because the people that were there were dancing their asses off.
People complaining about it not going back to its roots have two valid points in my opinion No Trey/Mike No Phil/Bobby
Other than that, there is a performance of Desitively BONNAROO and a SuperJAM featuring Dr. John, the man responsible for the festivals name. Doesnt hurt that the Meters were also at Bonnaroo 2003
And say what you will about them, its hard to argue that any band is as big a part of the Bonnaroo roots as Widespread Panic is considering they headlined the first two Bonnaroos, twice in 05, then again in 07 and 08.
Les Claypool is performing with Primus. Claypool has Bonnaroo in his blood having performed at more than half of the Bonnaroos held and Primus was one of the biggest acts at one of the earliest Bonnaroos.
Buffalo Springfield, featuring Neil Young who headlined the festival in only its second year.
Ray Lamontagne, Bonnaroo 05 SCI 02, 05, 07
i mean its getting ridiculous now that i am really getting into it.
Warren Haynes, Gregg Allman, Bela Fleck, STS9, Iron & Wine, The Del McCoury Band, Old Crow Medicine Show
all bands who played the festival within the first couple years. People will find a way to complain about ANYTHING. Just because the artists who helped build the festival YOU wanted arent there doesnt mean there arent other major influences on this festival making a strong presence in this years lineup.
Couldn't have said it better. I think this lineup combines stuff you won't see anywhere with bands that have made bonnaroo a go-to fest back in the day. hell, half the bands you mentioned, plus mmj, were introduced to me via bonnaroo. I think the lineup would be super solid without Em or weezy. I think the fact those guys can be there with WSP and SCI and all the other bands just goes to show that bonnaroo brings out a diverse musical spectrum, regardless of personal taste.

Yeah it was pretty empty. I stopped by after my Flaming Lips -> LCD run but was pretty worn out and could only stay for a song. They kill late night but I wouldn't mind them during the day to sit under a tree and dance to.

If you take out Lil' Wayne and replace with any big upper tier act (Trey, Roots + Legend, Massive Attack, Bright Eyes, etc.) people would be all over this lineup. It's rather sad they get distracted by a single act. In all honesty, outside of Wayne this looks like a 2006-2007 lineup. Lots of jam, collabs out the ass and some major indie & alternative bands (Arcade Fire, Strokes, Florence, Black Keys).
If the adds are an electronic act (Empire of Sun), 1-2 indie bands (Bright Eyes, someone else), a jam band (Yonder or Galactic) and 1-2 other bands then I don't see a single one could be mad at this lineup (other than Lil Wayne).

^^ ttly agree. (edit: with drew) I can't believe they didn't get roots+legend. that album is sick. I can't even listen to anyone bitching about the lineup at this point because AC made everyone happy without sacrificing anything by spreading themselves too thin. the additions can only make the lineup, not break it.
I support this line-up. I am certainly not stoked about every band up there, and wish some others were substituted, I will have a blast this year no matter what.
It's clear that AC did not over-pay the headliners like in years past. He saved some loot for the undercard and got a little something for everyone. Typically the headliners are my least favorite part of the fest.
I enjoy seeing people that I wouldn't normally go see on my own.
I'm guessing that the names on the lineup without asterisks between them are where the additions will be? Thoughts?
A few people were asking me about this in chat earlier, especially as they couldn't see it, so I took a screenshot to prove I wasn't crazy (well, I am kinda, but I wasn't making this up!)
missing dots between: *The Black Keys and Buffalo Springfield *Lil' Wayne and String Cheese Incident *The Strokes and The Decemberists *Primus and Dr. John *Dr. John and Alison Krauss *Old Crow Medicine Show and Bootsy Collins *Grace Potter and Del McCoury *Amos Lee and Best Coast *Abigail Washburn and Omar Souleyman
It blows my mind that people are complaining about a lineup where Buffalo Springfield (!) is billed 5th, the Strokes 11th, Robert Plant 9th...it's stacked.
^^this. As far as I'm concerned, we have Buffalo motherfucking Springfield, Arcade Fire, and My Morning Jacket. And yet people still bitch about Eminem being the top-billed name. With that lineup I couldn't give a shit if Ke$ha was headlining Saturday. In my opinion, 2011 is already giving 2006 a run for its money as the best Bonnaroo lineup ever, and we only have the initial lineup.

I've read a few posts wondering where MMJ of The Black Keys are going to play.
Didn't Insider say that MMJ was the Friday What Pre-Headliner / The Black Keys were the Sat What Pre-Headliner / & Robert Plant would be the Sunday What pre-headliner?
Can't wait to pick up my tickets. I was hoping to see Tallest Man On Earth and/or Jamaica, I had a good feeling about them. Now to wait on the schedule to get my girl into a new band that conflicts with Eminem. ughh

First post, first Roo, so forgive me if these questions have been answered somewhere on here, but there's no way I'm reading eleventy billion pages of posts... anyway,
1. Do they always announce the comedy at a later date? Anyone know when to expect that? 2. How many total additions can we reasonably expect? I think someone said there should be like 120 total bands, and I'm counting 80-something. Will there really be 30-40 more added? Seems like a lot...
1. The last two years comedy has been announced in march. I would expect the same this year. As far as acts go I'm not really sure. You could check out one of the comedy threads on here to see what people are thinking.
2. There will be a good number of additions made to the lineup. Most of the additions will be comedy, DJs and cafe acts. Cafe acts are lesser known acts that play on pretty small stages. I would expect about 10-15 stage acts to be added but that is just an estimate.

There will be about 10 - 15 major additions 10 - 15 comedians 40 - 45 cafe acts (smaller bands/artists) 5 - 10 silent disco DJs & if they bring back the Lunar Stage (or anything similar to it), there will be about 10-20 more DJs.
Usually 1st round additions are about mid march Comics are added late March/early April (Maybe) 2nd round additions in April Cafe acts are Mid/Late April Silent Disco & other DJs are late April/Early May Schedule is mid/late May
I'm just excited at the return of Superjam!! Let alone the lineup. Dr. John and Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys are going to put on one heck of a jam. These guys got all the rock influences covered(blues,r&b,jazz). That show is gonna jump alot of genres, I'm excited. The Gypsy Revue tent has also caught my eye. A collaboration of Gogol with Beats Antique or Devotchka would be very cool.

thank you to R and mwattack.. I love having more small things to get excited over before the actual festival. Just makes all the build up that much more epic.
Im not convinced of that. i could definitely see them putting SCI on the which at some point during his set because i feel like a lot of the people who dont want to see him would be all over SCI

well i want to see both so . most likely only time i won't have a conflict is when weezy is up.

Yes. I like that idea. Definitely rather see SCI than Eminem.

With Eminem at the number one spot on the lineup I'm gonna say no one plays opposite him. Maybe Cafe Acts like durin' years past, but nothin' big. At least not until like 30-45 minutes before his set is scheduled to end I bet.
::edit
Also after a few long, but good days at work. And really lookin' at this lineup, I am pretty fuckin' stoked! This is lookin' like a good year. Bring on the additions of artists, comedy, and everythin' else.
I know they were 3rd on the list in 09 and not 1st, but I could see a similar situation as Beasties with Em. Maybe not though, because he's obviously bigger.

What happens if Lil Wayne is playing late night? In fact, I hope he does and I hope they pit Dr. John & Original Meters against him or Opeth or Bootsy Collins. That'll work perfectly in my favor. But I can see Lil Wayne going on the Which after Eminem or Arcade Fire.

I'm thinking Primus and SCI get which stage late nights each night.
