Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm also doing the post-Dr. John thing, and I think SCI will play pretty late. I'll be slightly disappointed if they don't considering the Which late night slot has become somewhat of a big deal in recent years.
I'll be doing this as well and hope that SCI goes all night. Would love to have parked my ass for the whole set but I can't miss Dr John/Meters.
I only learned of STI after the lineup was released and we are definitely going to their set after Dr. John. They are scheduled to play until 3 but so was MMJ in 2008...I'm wondering if any of the more knowledgeable STI fans have and idea how long they might play for or could play for? Is there a possibility they could go till sunrise?
It's SCI, but whatever. Their last latenight at Bonnaroo was 2007 and went from midnight until 3:30ish. Granted they were a little late on stage, and had 15-20 min setbreak. But since this may be their last Bonnaroo (where they have alot of history, dating back to '02), I think they are gonna play as long as they want. Also, they only do a handful of shows each year, so they're gonna bring it
My plan is to watch the first 20-30 min of The Meters and hope SCI is late. Go check out SCI's first set. Hopefully I can get back to see the last 30-min of Dr.John. It is such a tough call for me though, I might just stay for all of Dr. John, and get the last hour of SCI. If I have enough energy, I'm gonna check out STS9 encore
I really want to see STS9 as well but I imagine that I'll get pretty absorbed into the STI set and I'll only catch STS9 if they play later than STI. Thanks for the info everybody!!

I've never listened to SCI at all, but I've seen EOTO a handful of times and they always bring it. I really hope they pull a Disco Biscuits and go well past 3am.
I will be at this show until it is time to walk to Gogol and I am looking forward to it. No one else seems to be tho. Only 3 pages of posts
The type of fans that enjoy String Cheese and WSP don't spend their time on internet message boards so they're pretty under represented on inforoo. They'll have large crouds though

This is very true. I'm the only one of a group of 20 registered on this site that has been doing roo together from the first year. That being said cheese is the most anticipated set for all of us.

Agree, they're easily on my top 5 to see. Everyone I know thats seen them was blown away and this is most likely the final Roo performance for them, so I think they will own the place that night.

Same here. I've wanted to see them for years and this is my first chance. Legend has it they play enormously long sets, how true would you say that is?

Let me put it this way. I once attended a 2 night run of SCI in 2005 when they were at Atlanta's Fox Theatre. The 2nd night they played 3+ hours with a long encore. As everyone was leaving, they came out to the lobby and played an acoustic set for another 30 minutes or so.
A week later, someone sent me a video of them leading a parade in whatever town they were in. Someone had pulled the fire alarm at the concert venue and everyone had to be evacuated. Instead of waiting to go back inside and play, they just marched with their instruments down the street and everyone followed.
Moral is that SCI will keep playing as long as the fans are listening. That's why I love them!
SCI was DEF the highlight of my entire experience this past weekend at ROO. They put on a SHOW for all of us, i mean TREX, Mothman, Guy walking in air, and the JETPACK!!
String cheese is my favorite band and this show was great. Starting things off with tennessee jed....awesome.
I just dont understand how more people arent into String cheese. I went to all the other shows: Eminem, black keys, mmj etcetc..
not saying those shows werent great but nothing came close to the string cheese show.
Does anyone else love SCI as much as me??????? I hope soooooo

I wasn't planning on seeing much of this set, but I was glad I went. I ended up staying most of the time. It was really good musically, and entertaining visually.
They had a pretty good sized crowd, we were back by the bleachers at the start of the set. By the end when Girl Talk and STS9 were playing, the crowd had thinned a bit.
Absolutely fantastic show. The guy coming onto the stage playing that cheesy 80's sax solo...hilarious! And so much randomness all around. Musically and entertainment wise, both great! The crowd did start thinning out, as we left too around 2:30ish to 3:00ish; and as with the rest of the sets at Which, once Girl Talk came on at This Tent, there was major sound bleed which kind of hurt the experience.
I've got to say...I made it to the second row of this show and I left early. This was really the only set which I was disappointed with. They hardly sound like the band that drew me to the second row in the first place. Can't hate them for growing, and I'm glad it seems this set was one of many people's highlights of the weekend, but the sounds they were laying down up there weren't for me, so I moved on. Who knows, it could have gotten better, but what I saw all felt very phoned in and uninspired and I'm glad I made the choice to leave for STS9.
At the same time, I had my expectations really high and I never expected them to go in that dancy, electronic direction with the set. Did anyone else feel a little put off by the set?

They have been going that direction for a few years now. It is a lot of the reason they semi broke up back in 07, when Kyle and Jason started EOTO, and Nershi moved back towards a more bluegrass sound with Emmitt. It is different, but I still like it, if nothing else the spectacle there with the Godzilla vs Mothra thing was pretty darn amazing. I did leave around 3 for Gogol though, SCI is great but they have nothing like the energy of Gogol.
Yeah for some reason I expected since EOTO is fully its own thing now that the sound would see a little more division from SCI's music. Like you said, it's not a bad sound, just different. The show definitely was a lot of fun and a total spectacle for the hour and a half or so that I saw.

What's funny, is that the set they pulled off at Bonnaroo really seemed like the best representation of this new direction. It hit upon the different sounds, but didn't feel as disjointed as some of the sets I've listened to in the recent past. They put on a serious ROCK show, with solid improvisation, without getting too noodley, and still mixed it up a bunch. Granted, I'd imagine a lot of this had to do with the environment they were playing in and the props/lights driving up crowd energy, but they were feeding off it a whole lot. I loved it and kind of wish more recent Cheese sounded the way that show did...
