Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I bought my 2 day pass as soon as they announced it was going to be in hartford. I was seriously considering going before but now that it's just 10min away I can't miss it.
My biggest issue is that Walk the Moon is playing first at 11:00 meaning that I definitely need to be in the gates by then ensuring a very long day inside.. They are a cafe artist at Roo, which is where I heard about them, and I'm REALLY digging their song Anna Sun.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

That's actually a good point. Nothing like a few beers in the parking lot before into a show there. My first Meadows concert of the season is in about two weeks. Can't wait for it all to start

I have some decent seats at KOL. Bought them the day they went on sale (and kicking myself for not buying presale and getting even better seats). I also do country music though, so I buy the Country MegaTicket every year, this year it's 4 concerts, so one of those are the one that's coming up.

The good thing about the Meadows is that everything will be close and it'll be SUPER easy stroll and and catch a solid 20 minutes of each if you can just cut out one...

I love it.....but i'm insanely biased and love pretty much anything they've done.
If you've heard any of their past records you'll be very surprised at the amount of production in the new one. Good use of sound effects and the like. Some use of drum machines and a sample or two is thrown in (specifically an Audrey Hepburn movie quote) There's a few slow songs but there's some great stuff on there. Amazing storytelling. It's still streaming from their site:
They let the bass player sing a few tunes on this one (Dancehalls, Honda Civic) and the last song on the album is one of the most powerful songs they play live. Very epic feel to it when the lead singer is shouting his part.
It just baffles me that they got this amazing sound in an abandoned high school in upstate NY. They rented out a big gym and turned it into their studio and recorded some parts in the school's auditorium. The school/studio was really cool when I visited it in December. At the time they thought they would have to leave but they're still at the location and opening up the studio to musicians who want to record (so they can make some money.....poor musicians).
BTW, check out their video for the first single.....it's pretty good:
Depending on the weather, I might be in. If it's nice and sunny out though, I'd rather pack a cooler and go hang out in the lot beforehand.
That was kind of why I was asking around, what would be better for you guys. If the weather is not so great, then perhaps City Steam (just thinking since it's a decent place and only a mile and a half away). Haven't ever really done anything at the Meadows parking lot, shockingly - could be up for that if the weather is good. Depends on what y'all wanna do.
Preferably, I'd like to do the cooler and grill thing no matter the weather. If it's bad weather, we'll be outside all day anyway... Though, if there is a City Steam meet-up, I would def do it! I love me some Naughty Nurses I am going with my friend, Melissa, who is also my Roo buddy. She's not a inforooer, but she lurks sometimes.
What are your schedules looking like? I don't know most of the bands on Saturday :/ I'll start the day with Walk the Moon, but don't really know anything until Best Coast at 7:40 (then I'll stay in the Pavilion/Lawn for Edward Sharpe and Weezer). I'd like some suggestions for the afternoon? I will check out Felice Brothers and Woods tonight.. Sunday I have a bunch of gaps to fill (again, suggestions?), but will definitely catch Portugal. The Man, Freelance Whales, Neon Trees, Coheed and Shpongle.

I really don't have too much a schedule for this. Unlike Bonnaroo where I know what I want to do about 90% of the time (even though I only stick to about 60% of that), here I really don't have anything set.
Snoop Dogg being Sunday night rather than Saturday night sucks, since I have to work Monday morning. Somewhere near I-395 at 6:30 in the morning... kill me.
If you have recommendations, I'm game. I've been told Titus A., Man Man, Portugal The Man, and Neon Trees are all solid. I forget two other ones which are big on my friend's list.
As for the meetup: City Steam one day, tailgate in the parking lot the other?

I don't particularly trust the recommendation of Neon Trees as I did the rest, as my friend... well, she has questionable tastes. She claims she was interested in going to 'Roo, but instead got tickets to New Kids on the Block at Fenway. Enough said.

^^Mwahahaha. Though, I have to say that I LOVED NKOTB back in the day.
**Fingers crossed for good weather** I see scattered/isolated tstorms almost everyday in the 10-day...? I've been to some great concerts in stormy weather there, but a full festival... I am hoping that it stays dry.

If you bought tickets in the Danbury days, I believe that means you can sit under the roof and avoid any potential rain. (Which would have been nice the first time I saw Dave Matthews there, as it was pouring and I was on the lawn.)
Said friend is actually going to this, I do believe.

You can still sit in the pavilion to stay dry... but then you'd be stuck there all day. That stage by the front entrance has a roof too, but I am not sure where their third stage will be... over by the meet and greet area on the other side? Perhaps? No idea. But you'd have to walk through the rain to get from one to the other anyway. Oh well.
One of my favorite concerts at the Meadows was Toby Keith in 09.. it was torrential downpours the entire time and I was lawn... but I love a good rain. Sprinkles or passing showers sucks, but I really love a nice, rainy day. I was dancing more that show than most.

I doubt we'll see an all day soaker, the type of stuff you see in March or November. Here in May it's more spotty showers, lines rather than blobs on the radar. Gone after an hour or two.
Even in this crappy week, it hasn't rained all day long.
Yeah, this Toby show was September, so it was out of the passing thundershower season.. Though I might disagree about this past week though.. every time I look outside it's AT LEAST sprinkling if not raining. We are definitely not into summer rain yet. Damn... Saturday of BOMB is now in the 10 Day... this morning it said partly cloudy and now it says few showers.. Which isn't bad, but there is still a week and a half to keep changing

I'd just like to point out that this is one of the worst stretches of weather I can ever remember for this time of year. We've had nothing but rain since last Saturday, and they're predicting the exact same thing for another week. May is typically the rainiest month of the year in CT, but this is ridiculous.
Same here. Well not so much rain (we've had some) but the lows have been in the 40s... and we haven't seen the sun since last Thursday.
I agree with you Juggs.. this is pretty dreary and depressing. I work in the ghetto of Hartford. As if the boarded up buildings and trash on the sidewalks aren't depressing enough.
CT aka Seattle, OR. The tan that I got in Mexico is fading fast without the sun around! haha

Good times ahead. First show for me since I saw Ronnie Earl in Northampton... two days after Thanksgiving. It's been way too long, but I think the next few weeks (Bomb, Mountain Jam, 'Roo) will more than make up for it.
I have trouble saying the sentence "I am going to a festival at the Meadows".. I know technically it is a festival, but as you just said.. it's not exactly what most of us are used to. That being said, I am still excited for it. It'll help time fly and Roo come that much closer.
LD- I am jealous that you are doing Mountain Jam! I have DMB Caravan two weeks after Roo and a concert on the 4th, so 3 festivals in one month (4 in 5 weeks) might have been the death of me.
