Through 20 years and three Macca concerts, I've been singing "show me 'round the Smoky Mountains way down south," until my world was torn asunder this weekend after Googling what BOAC meant. Maybe it's because of the 'Georgia's always on m-m-m-my mind" lyrics that precedes it.
I guess snow-peaked does make more sense, being a song about the USSR and all. Screw it... old habits die hard, so I'll probably just keep on singing my own version.
Also, apparently it's 'paper bag', not 'paperback'. I'm all over the place with this one.
Despite the song being titled Give The Po' Man A Break My ears hear "Gay Poem and a Brick" which makes absolutely no sense, but that's what it sounds like

I was recently crushed to find out a Beta Band lyric I'd been singing to myself for years was not correct - Dry The Rain If There's something inside that you wanna say Say it out loud it will be OK I will be alright, I will be alright, I will be alright, I will be alright.
Turns out he was saying "I will be your light"........I really liked my lyric better, that changes the whole fucking meaning of that song for me..

Interesting exchange from an interview with Jeff Lynne back in October of last year:
Interviewer: I have to ask you about Don’t Bring Me Down …
Jeff Lynne: [Laughs] I know what you’re going to ask.
Interviewer: What?
Jeff Lynne: About Bruce? (4) It was supposed to be Grooss! And we had a German engineer who thought it was Gruß, which means “greetings”. I left it in and didn’t think anything more of it, but then we went on tour and everyone was singing “Bruce”. So I joined in and sang Bruce and I’ve sung it ever since. It reminds me of Monty Python. “Grooss” was just to fill a hole in the song. It’s easier to join in than to explain that it’s not Bruce, it’s actually spelled g-r-o-o-s-s … so I sing “Bruce” instead of explaining.
