BTW... sheets all the way. They're breezy AND they block the sun.
This may be the year I try out sheets. I keep hearing good things about using them for shade. Can they go on three sides of your EZ-Up without killing your wind flow?
Ellie is talking about the "Sierra II" ones at Sears. They have angled legs (and a significantly cheaper price tag). Not sure what the difference is otherwise. Here's a link:
Yeah, definitely cheaper. Makes me want to cancel the first one I ordered.
Does anyone know the difference between the EZ Up Sierra II Canopy and the Express II Shelter? Did I go over the top and get something I might not need? I can't really tell a difference from the specs and they seem to be about the same size.

Express II has straight legs so it's actually 10x10 at top. I've been told since the legs are slanted on Sierra II it's more like 8x8 on top and I think it might be harder to buy the legit side walls and stuff (if you care about that). If you just make your own walls with tarps/sheets, then that doesnt really matter and it's cheaper.
I think Express II is taller too. Read the dimensions listed on those links.
i have a 10X10 canopy one side with a silver tarp the others with sheets and a tent under the canopy.....sound like a plan?
Just make sure you put the silver tarp on the EASTERN side of your canopy, and make sure that it's not going to p*** off your neighbors (considering it could deflect sun/heat into their camp).

Most breezes will make it through the thin material or whip it's way around it... So I don't think it'll cause any issues.
I am gonna hang tarps on all 4 sides of mine, so that I can have privacy to change clothes and such, but if its nice and breezy, I will roll the tarps up and secure them with bungy balls.

I have used Mytee's Mesh Tarps from last 3 years. This mesh tarps are made of synthetic material. It is very good product with affordable product. It is made from robust and waterproof material so goods from the environment and weather negative effects. Visit www.myteeproducts.com here you can find many tarps with different size.
I think it's gonna be a sauna if you have 4 tarps around your EZup. Even though the tarp blocks the sun it still lets through a fair amount of heat. In the past we have used old bed sheets that I attach to the EZup with 2 inch binder clips. You can get em at Staples, they work great and make adjusting the sheets simple.
One consideration about rolling up the tarps and wrapping a bungy cord, won't that hang down a foot or two? Might get annoying... With the sheets and the binder clips, we just take it down at night.

We usually bring tarps that we use to make a make shift shower area to provide a little privacy. We use two EZ Ups. One for over the tent and one for a lounge area. One thing to keep in mind about tarps is wind. If a very strong wind comes up and you have tarps tied down to your EZ Ups, it can cause the EZ Ups to bend or possibly even break. This comes from camping experience. We usually bring a couple of extra tarps just in case a neighbor needs one or if we need one for some reason. Best of camping luck!

Last year, we took some light-weight curtains and every few inches, made holes in the top to attach shower curtain rings to them. We attached the shower curtain rings to the easy up. Depending on where the sun was, some curtains were left hanging down, and the others were pulled back with bungee cords and attached to the legs of the easy up. We had shade, air flow, and privacy, with minimal fuss. We also brought a few tarps in case the weather took a turn for the worse.
Not exactly the right place, but figure I'll ask here before I start a new thread. I'll likely be flying in this year so won't be able to bring my pop up canopy. I wondered if anyone has experience with bringing a lightwight setup using pvc and tarps? I figure at least a simple lean to may be possible? Any advice or links to good threads would be appreciated.

So, this may or may not be the right place, but this thread convinced me to give sheets a shot this year instead of tarps. My question is, are there any specifics for what sheets I should use? I can't imagine plain white sheets blocking out the sun very much. Should I worry about color, material, and all that or just grab some old sheets from the closet?
I am using tarps this year but with a twist. I have installed close line material on all four sides of my ez up and put shower hooks on the tarps so I can pull them like a curtain.
This way I can easily only block the sun and allow the wind access from other sides regardless of time of day.
I have also made some wire hooks to support the close line at 1/3 points to reduce sag.
if you go thrifting....also look for the tapestries over in the swim section in the womens area. i get the tapestries there for about a buck or two. they work well for shade and are pretty too
