Ive been looking at several music lists and according to many critics, 10 of the 100 greatest jam bands ever will be at roo this year. According to one specific list, 4 of the top 10 jam bands ever. Make it 5 if you count duane allman of the allman brothers, but hes not even half of the greatness of that band. Im not saying these lists are fact, nor do i completely agree with them. Lets not argue about rankings.
3- the allman brothers band (duane allman) 4- bela fleck and the flecktones. 6- widespread panic 9- primus 10- string cheese incident 17- govt mule (warren haynes) 26- bruce hornsby and the noisemakers 35- mmj 56- railroad earth 87- old crow medicine show
Don't worry, nod, it won't rub off on you. Besides, even if it did, the only people who would care are the ones who think music is about image.
I'm not worried about it, MMJ brings a different crowd than a Phish or Furthur show anyway, I just don't like them in that list because I think "jam band" is more of a scene than a description of the music. And the scene surrounding jam bands is something I dislike.
Not to say there aren't extremely nice people who go to Phish shows who aren't complete wastes of space, but that band does bring out more of that crowd.
Anytime you're going to bring "jam band" into the equation on this message board, there will be some discussion on it. Especially because this board and the festival it's dedicated to used to skew much more heavily into the jam demographic.

who cares what other people label it as. its whatever u want it to be. im just trying to get people excited
I'm down with jambands, bonnapoo. That picture in my sig down there is from the Phish 2009 NYE run in Miami.
hell ya im down with phish. theyre a good band. im down with any kind of music. who cares what people label it as. when u think about it, doesnt every band jam? i guess i dont know what technically makes a band a "jam band." i suppose long improvs are a characteristic of a "jam band."
See, bonnapoo? Nod knew what I was getting at. I think it's time to accept that you like a jamband, nod.
Out of curiosity, bonnapoo, since the rankings and musical preference are off-limits, what did you want to talk about in this thread?
i just wanna start some excitement. i thought it was really sweet that according to lots of people roo i going to have some of the greatest jam bands ever this year. i guess i should correct myself, we can talk about musical preference. which of these bands are u most excited about? i just dont want any arguments started over a disagreement
