Just want all you guys to know how much I appreciate how I've been recieved here.
I really am sorry that I have sat here for a better part of the day and tried to explain it to the best of MY knowledge.
Its not like Adam and I talked about it at the weekly inforoo board meeting.
I was just trying to relay the information as I understood.
Most of the people that were banned, I dont have a huge problem. I do with some of them as you all know.
I can promise one thing though, I really DONT CARE how some of my typing comes out. If you think I cant form a coherent sentance, then you have a serious issue with language comprehension.
You got dumbass up there accusing me of being stupid and hiding behind excuses....Im not hiding, Ive been here all day. I dont need to make excuses for you....
My points were proven in my statement. Dispute them if you'd like.
Ad hominem attacks mean little to nothing.
simply put - the owner of this message board asked you guys to do something. then he told you guys that if you kept doing something you would be banned. you kept doing it and got banned.
I don't see what's really that wrong about what they (Adam) did?
Am I annoyed that some people I like to chat with are banned? Sure.

Trademark infringement is what happened on the IRC chat channel, and why the mods banned all those people. Copyright infringement is what happened with Edit's lineup design in the inforoo t-shirt thread, which at least one mod encouraged lots of board members to do, and they did.
I'm beginning to see how this place works.
I'm gonna ban myself for talking smack about Scientology. It's crazy! Crazy stuff for crazy people. Crazy. Okay since I'm banned now I'll see all you crazy outlaw scientologist surfer types at the First Annual Banned from Inforoo™ Brunch!

I feel like this entire thing represents a very serious misunderstanding of US copyright laws as they pertain the intellectual property, the internet, and public domain...
Also, that other thread is brilliant, I wish I hadn't been away from a computer all weekend.
Wow, all this muscles flexing over a chat room. Kinda sad, really.
I'm pretty sure the chat room was the last straw and that there were other issues people had (like thread hi-jacking and bashing people constantly). I'm not positive but that's what it seems like.

If that is so why was Ox64 banned who basically never posts?

Yea, the chat transcript makes this case pretty cut and dry.

This thread is seriously impacting my ability to get work done today. There is a lot to be said for behaving when you are someone's guest, hopefully at a minimum people read this thread and understand that much like Bonnaroo there are rules on Inforoo and if you break them there may be consequences. It's a contract we all make with each other every day. We all often break parts of that contract and the consequences are sometimes enforced and sometimes they aren't but we can't claim ignorance. We know there are rules, crying about the consequences after the fact is pretty immature. The fact that Adam let them know the consequences is enough. Fair isn't really relevant except for peoples choice about remaining a member. If you feel like someone is so unfair that the board is ruined for you then just delete your account and move on.

first off - I have no idea why he was banned if he never posts. Was he an active member of the chat room that people weren't supposed to use?
And I don't think the chat transcript makes anything cut and dry. Roofan has stated that Adam kept an eye on certain members for recent activity so I'm guessing it wasn't just "disobey me this one time and you're banned". I assumed that there were a few warnings about things.

That would hold some weight if the activities on this board were the cause for the bans. It was the activities in a chatroom, not hosted by these boards, that is the cause, hence the disgruntled users.

Since when do Inforoo mods have a right to tell someone they can't chat on IRC?

[16:01] <Adam> This is Adam from Inforoo™. Last warning, tell your friends. I'm about 99.9% sure that anyone continuing to use the #inforoo IRC chat after midnight eastern time tonight will be banned from Inforoo™ If you want to chat go chat somewhere else
Appears pretty cut and dry to me. The fact that people who don't post very often, but routinely chat were banned should be evidence enough.

I don't think it makes a difference approo. Let me change the context. If I invite you into my house and then after inviting you I find out that you talk shit about me when you're visiting with your other friends I get to say, hey, if I hear you talking shit about me again then I'm not going to let you back in my house. Regardless of whether it's fair or cool or good for Inforoo is irrelevant. It is relevant that people understand when you are a guest you play by there rules or you risk not be invited back.

Basically it's the story of Adam and Eve all over again.
God (adam) created this place(inforoo) for Adam and Eve (all the boys and girls who love bonnaroo) to marvel at all the wonder and feel free to do what they want.
God told Adam and Eve not to eat the forbidden fruit. They did....and were punished for it.
I'm not saying Adam is a god. Just saying that it's a similar story (from what I know about what happened here).
Well you missed the funny part, dude created like 9 threads, all with that same long diatribe. I think someone needs to go home and sit on an ice pack.

According to the statement made by adam, in chat, the banning is a result of using the IRC chat, not the context of the discussions in chat. So its not a result of the mods feeling slandered.
Isn't there a suspension or a probation period for these types of things? Banishing someone because they were chatting past the deadline seems harsh. It's like expelling a student for walking off school grounds.
First, I DID NOT ban any of those folks, Adam did! He has been paying particular attention to certain members for a while and has noticed the same thing I have, that some people use this forum for the specific purpose of quacking with people. That is not what inforoo is about, that is not why we exist, and Adam made the decision that people who were using this forum for those pruposes will be banned. they do not fit the vibe of inforoo and they only bring the board down.
and
Make no mistake, these individuals WERE NOT banned for "using a chatroom" as some on here have implied. This was a long time in the making, everyone of them have had many chances and opportunties to cool it with the crap, THEY chose to continue, so Adam chose to ban them.
Now I know that Adam specifically says that if they don't stop using the chat, then they will be banned. But some keep making it seem like the chat was THE ONLY thing happening when we were told it's not the only reason. Now I can't give specifics about why some members were banned because I don't know.........but what I do know is that apparently they were given a few chances and warnings about things.....as opposed to just banning them because they used a chat once.
