Sorry that you are still sick, I am also. I agree that it is environmental asthma from the dust. I still feel really tired and have been using everything that the Dr. would give me, but none of it is really helping. Think that I will look for the teas and do some of what Nurse Lucy suggested.
If I went to see my Dr. all he would do would be to send me back to the allergist who can't find any of the things that I am allergic to except for dust mites. What is of great concern is that is coming close to a month that many of us have been sick.
Where did you buy the Emer' gen C??? I want to make sure that I know where to get it for next year along with my dust masks.

Additional recommendation for all, not just sick people! For daily supplements Life Essence Vitamins by Pure Essence Labs by far THE BEST supplement out there, that I've found anyways, and Cacao (better for you that green tea... google if you want to know more) and if you get sick often I'd suggest adding some pro biotics to the mix, I take New Chapter - All Flora, usually don't remember these, but I try. And liquid Co-Q10 (produces ATP in cells, converts to cellular energy, great for the heart and all over well being). Liquid's better for absorbtion. I've been taking these since my bout with asthmatic bronchitis April of 06 and have not been sick since then, no cold, nothing. If your not too keen with taking a lot of supplements, I'd just stick with the Life Essence.

I picked mine up at Walmart. It's in the pharmacy near all the diet shakes, etc. It was about 8 bucks for a big ole box of the packets. I'd toss two packets into an ice-cold bottle of water and I was good to go.
Walgreens, Publix, & Wal-mart all sell the Emergen-Cs. They also sell individual packets at Smoothie King, if you have those in your area.
Also about the dust and asthma talk - not only was the 'Roo environment unhealthy dust-wise , in general TN is pretty bad with allergies, asthma, sinus infections, etc. etc. I don't know why exactly, but ever since I moved here from NY I've been riddled with sinus related problems. From what I've heard, it might have to do with all the carbon monoxide from factories and through-traffic causing the plants to over produce pollen.

Glucosamine and Chondroitin is really good for all over bone and joint health, I'd recommend liquid for this too, since is better for absorption. I'll have into it a little further after class.... let ya know soon! In the mean time.. what kind of arthritis, rheumatoid? tendonitis?
Edit: Just pm'ed ya, with some info Meg. Hope that helps! (took out willow bark from original post cause I couldn't find anything to support that.--It is good for headaches though

I'm actually (FINALLY) starting to lose my cough! (HOORAY!) I'm starting to experience some unexpected drainage but, I'm feeling better! Thanks Lucy, Adam and everyone! (I hope it lasts this time)

Meg-Iv'e suffered from Rheumatoid arthritis since I was 2. It is a little different than other arthitises in that it is an immune reaction that my body creates. However, relief from symptoms can be attained in similar ways.
A diet high in Omega oils----Salmon(always wild, never farm raised-well worth the $). Flaxseed oil, Hemp Oil, Spirulina. All help the body stay naturally lubed. Staying active, despite pain.
I don't take supplements anymore. I believe that less is more and that my body can better derrive what it needs from a healthy diet if it is not convoluted with sorting out the other stuff we dump down our holes. Avoiding refined sugars is another way to ease the body's tensions. I like to save my liver and kidneys for sorting out the party, not sorting out the healthcare !

Just wondering, Snoochio... (or anyone that knows..) What's the difference between farm raised salmon as opposed to wild. I've been trying to eat more salmon, but have been kind of freaked out about mercury. And I heard something about how you should only eat salmon like 2x a week. Is there any truth to that?
NIGHT and DAY. Glad you asked, as this is an area where I have not only an opinion, but a wealth of experience to back it up.
My mom lived in Alaska for most of her life. For the last 20 years or so, I have visited her frequently. She lived in a town called Homer and had a cabin in the wilderness. Toward the end of her stay in a Homer(a town of about 4000), she sold the house in town and moved out to the cabin while building a place to live there, permanently, in the wildnerness. About two hours by snowmobile to the nearest road. The house was on a lake up in the mountains. The lake was fed by a river that ran to the ocean, thus making it a veritable salmon hatchery and funeral parlor !
I am a fisherman. Whenever I would visit, we would fish for several types of salmon depending on the season. We also fished halibut. Mmmmm halibut. Often shipped home what we caught--king salmon, silver salmon, pink salmon, halibut, etc. Quantities often neared 100# per trip. Sweet. My mom would also ship quantities to me in the off season to clear her freezer for the on season.
The salmon we caught were of 2 main distinctions--freshwater and saltwater. They are the same fish, just caught at different times in their cycles. There was a spring run in the rivers and a fall run. Often in the fall run, you were catching salmon as they made their way back up the rivers to die in the freshwater lakes of their birthplace. Catching the salmon out in the ocean was a real treat, as that's when they are sushi quality !!
Now to the distinction between these wild awesome nutritious fish(bear can't be wrong) and the farm raised schwagg. The ones raised in farms happen predominantly in the Atlantic Ocean. They are kept in pens offshore of the coast. They never migrate or go through the changes of their body from passing between fresh and saltwater. The food they are fed is VERY EXPENSIVE to the point that "farmers" monitor it with underwater video systems that cut off the dispensing of the food when it begins to escape the bottom of the pen.
To compare the flesh of the options is a dead giveaway. Wild salmon is a deep orange to red, beautiful really. The farm raised is very pale, often almost colorless, unless dye is used to mock it up. And it often is, but you can easily tell the difference. Another main difference is price. Farm raised salmon will be available year round and can be found on sale, typically for about 4.99 a pound. Wild salmon is usually only available as it pertains to the spring and fall "runs" and is typically identified by the river from which it was harvested. Copper River salmon or Kenai River salmon, often. These are the types of rivers that feed the lakes like the one my mom lived on. Price is typically about 19.99 a pound, when available. Often , you must get in on a pre order list as it sells out rapidly, even at this price.
The wild salmon is FULL of all of the goodness of a fish that has lived a unique life cycle. Omega 3 and 6 oils rise to the surface as you grill or bake one. Nothing of the sort from farm raised. Chemically enhanced, nutritionally bankrupt. A search will reveal much of what i have described, and much more about the nutritional and environmental discrepancies between the two.
I have been blessed to eat wild salmon in loads, without the hefty pricetag. That's how it is in Alaska. However, overfishing has led to the drastic reduction in their numbers and thus a drastic rise in prices and drop in availability. Most of the problem occurs several miles offshore from the mouths of these Alaskan and Canadian rivers. There are heavy restrictions on what we allow domestically. However, international floating canneries(mostly Japanese) operate just miles into international waters and scoop these miracles by the millions, without regard to breeding cycles and sustainability. Or next year's harvest.
Wild salmon is not the kind of fish you must worry about heavy metals such as lead and mercury from. They migrate rampantly into and out of vast feeding areas in the oceans worldwide. They are not bottom feeders. Bottom feeders like halibut, tuna, shark, etc are most likely to feed on/near/around heavy metal deposits and therefore have health recommendations and weekly/monthly eating limits attached.
Sadly, I do not each much , if any wild salmon as of late.Happily, I do not eat ANY farm raised salmon. This includes ordering salmon in a restaurant, as well, since 99% of the time it is farm raised unless marketed otherwise in fine dining joints. Mostly because of price and sustainability issues, I avoid the wild. Because of health and ethical considerations, I totally avoid the farm raised. This is a real bummer cuz I am a vegetarian who eats fish once or twice a month these days. I am eating fish less and less all of the time, mainly due to the unsustainable practices incorporated in the worldwide harvet. It is said, that the way many fish are harvested, especially in long line trawling, is similar to if we harvested rabbbits on the land by using bulldozers. Push it all into a pile. Pull out the rabbits. Forget about the rest. I can't be a part of that when there are alternative ways to feed myself.
I DID just score some Kenai River salmon for 9.99 a pound. Made my famous "Scarborough Salmon" on the charcoal grill. Parsely, sage. rosemary, and thyme adorned. Nothing but pure goodness.

Wow!! Thanks so much Snoochio!! I guess I asked the right person ! I might be going completely vegetarian, and now I think I'm gonna take the plunge.
I was curious cause I've been trying to do what I can to eat my essential vitamins, rather than taking them in a pill, but it is so hard due to cost and finding things that haven't been depleted of all of their essential nutrients. I know if fruits or veggies are flash frozen at their peak they maintain all of their goodness. But all flash frozen stuff? I can't do that. Ah, well... work in progress. Maybe someday I'll find my balance.

Good luck with the veggie thing. Hilari and I tried doing for a while, but it didn't work for us. We only made it about 8 months. I hope you have better luck with it.

I was pretty icky after roo and picked up some EmergenC and Theraflu and it cleared it all up pretty well.....slippery elm is good as well. You can pick up some all natural stuff at your local herb/head shop..... the person working there can more than likely tell you whats the best stuff to use....
