YES for real be careful peeps we want you all back at next years Bonnaroo..... It is way better to crash in a rest area than the middle of the highway!!! Be safe everyone and see you all in JUNE...
thanks, NoD, and everyone else...no one is immune from this. Sooner or later the body's need for sleep will win out. Please pull over and rest, or use a buddy system.

When I was driving in in 07, only a lightning storm on the horizon was jarring me awake. Very scary. We stopped at a hotel in Chattanooga, but should have pulled off to sleep way earlier...especially since we were driving an RV, which is basically a rolling bedroom.
Me and my roo buddy are cutting the drive home in half (even though we're driving straight through to get there). We've had too many scary experiences with this. Get up Monday morning, 7 hours to Little Rock, sleep over Monday night, and 7 hours home. I wasn't budging on this one.
This may seem like an obvious thing, but if you're starting to fall asleep at the wheel while driving back from Roo, get to a rest stop and take a nap. I almost died last year while trying to power through the trip back home Sunday night. The road started looking like this,

This is one of those things you never think will happen to you until it does. Last year we left roo before Dave Matthews and I got home around 9am, I was fine for a good long time talking with Dan about everything we saw during the weekend but once he went to sleep it wasn't but a few hours before I started getting sleepy so I pulled off and tried to take a nap with no luck and got back on the road thirty minutes later. Sure enough a few hours later I wanted to nod off again so I slapped Dan on the leg and asked him questions about his favorite movies and music and whatnot. its the only thing that kept me awake
So just be aware of how sleepy you feel, and if you are by yourself call someone. Even at three in the morning I know I would rather help keep you awake while driving then have you get into an accident.
