On top on drinking a metric fuckton of water for rehydration you can get electrolyte tabs from camping stores that you just throw into a bottle of water. Stronger than gatorade and all that stuff and way easier to pack. 12 tabs to one tube, 1 a day in the morning or early evening!
I'm not sure about the tabs, but what I am positive about is coconut water. That stuff is full of natural electrolytes and chocked full of potassium (more than a banana). It is great for what ails you. I'll be bringing some for myself for sure!
Edit: Oh, and in my opinion it's way better than gatorade!

Check these out. They can save your life. I bought mine at skymall.com after finding them in skymall on a plane ride. Heat stroke is a form of hypothermia and it can kill you, please take it seriously.

i am curious about this. do you drink this in conjunction with tons of water? is there a brand that is better or does it all taste the same? and how sweet is it? i love having an option to gatorade.

If you get the plain, it is not sweet at all and very refreshing. There is a taste to it that is not at all bad, but for some it may be an acquired taste. ( I have to drink mine ice cold or I would not enjoy it) It is definitely best in conjunction with tons of water in a Roo-type setting. The potassium in it is the important part; it helps you maintain a proper electrolyte balance allowing your muscles and nerves to function properly. I am no expert on coconut water or it's health benefits, but I do use it on occasion and like the results. BTW, I buy Vita Coco; there are other brands out there but I can't readily get them where I live.

i LOVE coconut milk. i put it in fruit juice an water. i like it plain but if you think you might not then just add some strawberries or somethig to it

I'm packing Vita Coco myself; recently I've seen some flavored varieties, though I don't have any experience as far as taste is concerned on that lot. One coconut water a day should set most folks right, but also make sure you drink lots of water throughout the weekend. The Tennessee heat can be pretty steamy.
I know that coconut flesh, and coconut milk can prove to be a very powerful laxative. Has anyone noticed any of the same effects from the coconut water?

I have not noticed that, but JIC.... Extra porto wet wipes...CHECK!
Edit: Porto paranoia kicked in and I googled. They say excessive amounts can have that effect. So, pack twice as many clothes as you think you will need and half as much coconut water...
