I'm a big fan, but if you walk up to random people on the street, maybe 1 out of 20 would know who OF is. They're not that well-known in the states yet.
yet. We are talking next year, after everyone's projects have a chance to come out. I think top 12 is high too, but if they were on the lineup, I think people will be surprised where they land.
Maybe 12 is high but yeah, I think they'll be shockingly far up on the list. Hell, 2010's #12 act was Michael Franti and Spearhead, and I feel like maybe 1 of 20 people on the street would know who THEY are so. OF would be a big draw.

OF isn't top 12. They would be a low-level hip-hop act. Wiz Khalifa is on the 11th row of the artists this year and he's much more well-known than OF. And I don't think they're going to explode in popularity in the next 8-10 months. I wouldn't mind it, but without Earl (their best actual rapper), it's going to be near impossible. Top 12 rows, maybe.

....Odd Future being in the top 30 names would be a shock. Top 12 is laughable. I wouldn't think they'd be in the top half of the initial lineup. I'd say it's more likely Kanye never returns than it is that he does return, but it's not a 0% thing. I'd imagine it's a pretty low chance though...
Kanye will never be back on the farm. I'll put $20 on it right now.
I don't think they'd recycle Jay-z as a headliner just 2 years after his first performance. But then again they recycle WSP all the time and they've never had a croud the same size as Jay-z's last year.
I'll take that bet. If he ever makes an appearance at Bonnaroo, you owe me $20.
They've had larger crowds than Jay-Z last year, also. Jay-Z was playing opposite a number of acts - there have been headliners playing unopposed where I'd assume 97% of the attendees were there.
Ha I'd take that bet except that there's really no way for me to win. Bonnaroo would have to cease as a festival for us to definitively say he never played again. And in that case everyone loses.
I thought you didn't go last year so how would you know? The only crouds I've seen at Bonnaroo that rival Jay-z last year were Pearl Jam and Radiohead.

Its hard to really compare crowd sizes of that volume. I know Jay-Z's set last year was the most packed I have ever seen the What Stage, but I don't have a whole lot to choose from. I would also say that last Saturday night had an insane amount of illegal entrants, when you think about Jay, Deadmau5, etc. all performing, boosting the number way above 60K. But there is no real way to get an exact number.

I mean, you offered the bet. You pulling back now? WELCH.
And it has nothing to do with being there last year, it's simple math. They estimated 75K at Bonnaroo last year. Jay-Z was playing against Dan Deacon, Theivery Corporation, and Clutch. Even if you assume that every single person was watching music at the time, and the other three acts all pulled only 5K each, you're still looking at 60K, tops. That number has likely been topped by any number of headlining acts who played unopposed. It's a small point, but I'm not a fan of hyperbole.
Alright If if Kanye ever plays bonnaroo again I'll give you $20
I see your logic. But dude you just don't understand how many people were at Jay-Z last year. It was a LOT of people. Like standing room only as far as the eye could see, even at the back of the field.

I'm with him. I had a hell of a time getting out to go to Clutch. I think they shipped in extra people.
Wishful Thinking lol: Incubus>Muse Prince>Daft Punk Radiohead
But I could see something like Incubus>Lady Gaga(lame, but bound to happen) Outkast(would be an awesome way to follow the hip hop routine)>Daft Punk Furthur.
ive been there since 2008, and it certainly seemed to be a bigger crowd then pearl jam pulled. i had a much better spot for jay-z then i did for pearl jam, so i couldnt say or sure how far back it went, but judging by videos it certainly seemed like the crowd was farther back then pearl jams set.

No chance they get Prince, Daft Punk and Radiohead....We'll get one of those hopefully, but no chance all 3.

I guess we'll never know what act had the biggest crowd at Bonnaroo. The "eye" test isn't really scientific, is it? Shockingly, I agree with Juggs. It had to be an unopposed headliner, because Jay-Z did have some stiff competition. Plus he was late night, when alot of people pass out from too much partying.
If I had to guess, the biggest crowd had to be in 2004, when they sold 90k instead of the usual 80k. Dave & Friends was pretty crowded, and didn't have the weather problems that The Dead had to deal with. But we'll never know for sure
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
OK, switch Death Cab and Radiohead. This is the most likely lineup I can think of when you think about Frusciante leaving RHCP(less draw), the Stones' 50th anniversary, Codes & Keys/King of Limbs getting hype this year. Phish is just a random guess.
Fri - Radiohead Sat - Rolling Stones(What), Death Cab for Cutie (Which LN) Sun - Phish
John Mayer closed the 2nd stage at Rothbury when he played. He hasn't really played many other festivals, so it's hard to say, but I feel like he'd be a pre-headliner or Which closer at Bonnaroo.
I think Daft Punk is a possibility for next year (Obviously people say this every year, but from the sounds of it they'll have a tour going by this time next year).
I think Foo Fighters are reasonably likely as a headliner. A "Watch the Throne" set from Jay-Z & Kanye is really the only other headline-caliber rap act they can book and also is the only way to get Kanye back on the farm.

Seriously? This thread already? Well...
The usual: Radiohead (if they're touring) Daft Punk (if they're touring) Paul McCartney Gorillaz Eric Clapton Someone from Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin Carlos Santana
Muse will play one day when the cycle hits right. Outkast will one day headline when they do decide to reunite, I think.
