SMH at the lack of a hip-hop headliner. C'mon, you know it's going to be:
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Phish - "Rap Headliner Here" - then some other poop.
I see you edited in the Roots, and that's almost definitely NOT going to be the hip-hop headliner. I'm sure they'd follow up with the Roots or an act much smaller the year after they had one of the biggest names in hip-hop perform.
Ya I edited in The Roots but they were who I meant to have there in the original post. I copy and pasted from CPK's worst case
yeah i know it's the bands decision obviously. but you know they're throwing shit tons of money at em to try and get them there, i don't really see the big deal or why its so difficult. especially since they were in negotiations last year... figured they would've been signed for this year as of last year
i don't see why we feel the need to constantly compare bonnaroo and coachella. as someone who lives in tennessee, i don't give a poop about coachella because it's far too impractical, expensive, and just out of the way for me to even think about. not like the atmosphere at a festival like coach even compares to the real festival experience that bonnaroo has to offer. sorry to rant, i just don't think coach is that big of a deal. roo usually has better headliners in my opinion anyway
How is Bonnaroo more of a "real festival experience" than Coachella, do tell? Last time I checked, the #1 festival in the US was, in fact, Coachella. I live in Tennessee too, and I give infinite amounts of poop about Coachella. For one, I'm usually envious of the line-up, and two, it gives you an idea of who could be at Bonnaroo.
It sounds like you're trying to make it seem like Bonnaroo is a TRUE festival, whatever that means, and Coachella is just some weekend camping trip with a few bands or something. Talk about close minded, damn.
Coachella almost always blows the 'Roo line-up out of the water, sorry guys. And I'm a Bonnaroo guy until I die, but it's just the facts. They get the bigger headliners, the reunions, etc. What do we get?
Phish.
Phish is great! and i kinda see where you're coming from, but at the same time Roo definitely gets huge headliners. the Boss? Beaties? Byrne? Stevie Wonder? As for reunions how about Buffalo Springfield? or Phish comin through on their reunion tour, although that obviously doesn't make much of a difference to you? those are just some in the past couple years.
anyway, I just feel like constantly bringing up Coach is unnecessary in a Bonnaroo forum. but ultimately i don't really care. i'm really just bored and dying for insider to come back
I'm going with RHCP - Phish - Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg. That seems perfectly logical, and continues the trend of Bonnaroo sharing at least one headliner with Coachella, and 'Roo having a big time hip-hop act. Yeah, it might be a one off performance at Coachella, but I'm sure AC/Superfly could throw them enough dough that it'd be plausible to do it just ONE more time.
I don't see Radiohead coming back, sorry. I also don't see the Foo Fighters being there if RHCP is there. It's gotta be one or the other, in my mind. But, I'd be happy to be wrong, since I'd see both of those. I'm not picky, I'm just glad this little festival a short distance away from my house books these huge names and awesome undercard bands every year.
Hey, maybe it's Kings of Leon's year to return!
*gag*
-------------------
Let's compare Coachella's headliners over the years, and their big reunions, and see who wins.
Buffalo Springfield? They have At the Drive-In & Refused this year. Last year, it was Pavement. Jarvis Cocker coming out of his shell to perform. Do I need to go on?
Headliners? PAUL MCCARTNEY. PRINCE. ROGER WATERS. DAFT PUNK.
All of those are everyone's wet dream on this board to play Bonnaroo. One US festival has had them. It's not Bonnaroo.

Radiohead is in demand all over the world, almost every year. They can't play every fest, especially when they have flat out said they aren't doing as many festivals this time around.

To think either is better is just an opinion thing. To compare the lineups I think many people love the Coachella line up. I saw one or two bands if they played Roo I might stop by to see. Thing I like about Roo is the bands seem to me to be more diverse. Getting Phish is huge, for Roo to get RHCP and not coach is huge because RHCP are a Cali band and huge draw. I know when Roo's line up comes out there will be at least 10 bands I will think that is awesome and I want to see them, and 3 other people will have 10 different bands on their to see list. Let's get over this. both fests are awesome.

i don't really understand what you're getting at but ok. just seems to make sense that they'll play since they still have another leg of the u.s. to announce

The only thing I'm getting at is chances are Radiohead is NOT playing, which is what I've been saying for months now. The reasoning has been brought up and debated a lot already, so I'll spare everyone the repeat conversation.
I mean, I may be wrong, and I'll gladly own up to it if I am, but until then...

until that happens i clutch dearly to my hope of them being there. i won't be that pissed if they're not there, saw them a roseland the first night... shit was crazy
We know for a fact that AC wants Radiohead. The man told me himself. But if Radiohead does not want to play Bonnaroo, for whatever reason, there is not much they can do.

If RHCP and Phish are two of the three. Dre and Snoop make sense to me, because I just can't belive RHCP, Radiohead and Phish. I think thats a great headlineing trio. And there should be three more strong names and some great late night acts. I am hoping for a SCI return. but knowing ETO is playing the weekend before just don't see that happening either. Rodrigo Y Gabriella are also touring, that would be a great add.

I vote for "Force them at gunpoint!"
(unloaded weapon, of course. safety first.)
Unloaded weapon can still get you shot. I'm sticking to the kidnapping plan after the March Atlanta show.
