Coldplay's lineup poster positions this past year have surprised me a bit, so maybe they're not quite as expensive as one might think.
It was interesting at Lollapalooza, they were billed above Muse, but played against them on the smaller field(Muse played the same stage as Eminem and Foo Fighters, while Coldplay played the same stage as My Morning Jacket and Deadmau5)
This was only because of the MASSIVE lighting rig Muse had. Muse needed the larger stage to accommodate their entire production, while Coldplay had a much much smaller production that would fit on the smaller stage.

I was at this show. There was a larger crowd for Coldplay than Muse. I am not a big fan, but they put on a good show. While this might not be the most exciting headliner, you would get a solid show.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

this is because they were a last minute booking. Muse had already signed on with the intention of having them play the south field.

I love the Stone Roses. They're one of my favorite bands of all time, but I don't think they'd ever headline 'roo. They'd be more of a Coachella act. Also, the rumor is they're planning two shows in Manchester, England, not Manchester, Tennessee.
I think Paul Simon's 25th anniversary tour of Graceland with the original troupe of backing performers will happen next year. Perhaps this would fit in the Buffalo Springfield slot from this year?

Paul Simon performing Graceland in its entirety would be pretty freaking neat, in my opinion. I'd support that, and I think it would fit perfect in that spot.

So if we got Radiohead on Saturday, who would Friday be?
Wilco might be there, but they won't headline Friday night. They might get Primus' spot from last year on the Which stage. Or Pre-headline on the What Stage.
It won't be Daft Punk either, if they are booked, I would bet money on a Saturday-night-What-Stage-late-night spot. (Eminem's spot).
Friday night headliner is going to be Foo Fighters.

Foo Fighters Friday night really seems to make sense
