Five of us have a long trip ahead of us next Wednesday. We are leaving the city after work on Wednesday and driving through the night to Manchester. It looks like it will take us 15 hours to get there, not including stops at Walmart/Piggly Wiggly. I was wondering what some of you did to pass the time on your road trips to Roo?
Cruise Control Pork Tenderloin, cooking time 250 miles or so.
Ingredients: 1 large pork tenderloin, butterflied 3 tbsp Dijon mustard 2 tbsp dry white wine 1/2 cup red onion, minced 2 tsp rosemary (fresh), crushed Salt & pepper
Blend together all of the ingredients (except the pork) and spread across the inside of the pork tenderloin. Close up the pork, triple-wrap in foil and place on a medium-hot part of the engine. Turn once (125 miles) during cooking.
I'll be leaving Wednesday morning after work. I work nights, so hopefully I can sleep some on the way. We like to absorb new albums when hubby and I are traveling together. We'll each share some new stuff the other hasn't heard yet. And we talk. It's good quality time for relationships. If I'm traveling alone, I like to listen to podcasts of This American Life and Radiolab from NPR. Radiolab is my absolute favorite.

me and my gf will probably listen to The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Its both outlandishly funny, and incredibly insightful. They are also about 2.5-3 hours long, so two of them puts us almost to Manchester.
or similarly...if you are rolling deep with heavy roo fans, pick anything and see if you can find a connection between them and an artist thats currently on the roo lineup. (example: let's say somebody picks Adam Sandler..... you could say that Adam Sandler starred in Mr. Deeds which features the song "where are you going" by Dave Matthews Band who headlined Bonnaroo last year.)

bring a roll of duct tape. make stuff out of it. i added a storage pocket to my camelpak on the trip last year, and plan on adding much more this year.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

when i am bored and travelling, i listen to WTF! with marc maron. its free.
it is a really good podcast where he interviews comedians and comic writers. each one is about an hour long. interesting and funny. I would recommend skipping over the 5 minute self pity monologue Maron does before every show. if you want an idea of what a good show, IMO, is for him, check out the one where he interviews adam corrola.
