-More shade tents. they don't even need to be misting tents.
-there used to be water sheds in Centeroo and now they have the blue mushroom lookin things. i could swear there are less faucets per station than the sheds. and some of them were putting out water way too slowly. i think the deaths and heat related problems show that more are needed.
-fix your neon lights, Roo. i though the cuckoo tower was pretty damned cool, but some of the neon signs for the tents and some on the ferris wheel were out. can't get it fixed for four days?
other than that, i can't wait for my 8th time next year,
Agree with all of that. At first I thought they were turning the lights on and off randomly but then I realized they were just broken. They need to do something with the Which stage too. There is just a huge bottleneck in the back of it whenever someone big plays at it. I know they really can't do it but they need to make it bigger.
1. They need to fill in the muddy part of the trail when you walk to the What Stage. All they did was put down some pallets...I believe it slowed down traffic quite a bit when everyone was leaving the stage.
2. They need to make some big trough type urinals so the lines for the toilets are not as long.
3. MORE SHADE! The "There Tent" was a life saver at times. Those shading devices the school designed sucked!

- more water drops. All those water trucks have sprayers on the back--use them when the dust is up!!
- change the pesticide on the farm. I know this is an ongoing issue for more than just me. It's horrible and the allergic reaction I had is still in full force...it forced me to leave early which sucks. Not to mention, our site was full of chiggers, ants, spiders and (I think) noseeums so it's not working.
- more shade (ie in the Comedy Tent tix line), more water stations (esp in Centeroo), cheaper ice
- a strictly enforced speed limit for vehicles-- golf carts and cars!! I saw people going WAY too fast...it's dusty and dangerous.
- more places to sit in Centeroo. More picnic tables would help a ton.

I actually used the sinks next to the Silent Disco all weekend. No line and the water didn't smell at all.

I usually get this on my ankles every year, but I wore high socks all weekend and avoided it.
I'm pretty sure it's worse at the What Stage for what it's worth, I was only there for a couple bands this year Friday so that may have helped as well.
I had a great festival with few hassles, but there is always room for improvement:
1. Fix the sound at the Which Stage, add a second bank of speakers 2. Move soem vendors away from the Which stage as it was too crowded 3. Put video screens on all of the tents (That, This, The Other) 4. It was really crowded on Thursday...Put a headliner on the Which or What and relieve some of the congestion

Yeah, I also take responsibility for not paying better attention to the Bonnarash thread on here. I shoulda brought high socks. But the grass was so low I figured it wasn't a big deal...shoulda known it was in the dust too! High socks/boots, a chair for Centeroo, a luggable loo and dust masks are all on the list next year.

This was my first roo... I had the time of my life.. That being said I can't even begin to describe how utterly disgusted I am at the fact that they try to claim to be "the best and biggest fest in the USA" and only two stages have screens on them. I understand that they will sell the tickets anyway but for QUACKING sakes put screens on EVERY SINGLE TENT as well.. Also I literally could not hear buffalo springfield or even Robert plant very well and I was not to far back at either..from what I've been hearing the festival grew by almost 40,000 this year.. All that means is being even further back from whoever your seeing.. I'm for sure going again next year but may just save up for VIP. I'm 6 foot and even on my tip toes not being able to actually see people on the stage is a bummer. Let alone my girlfriend who is 5'4 and just gets to look at peoples sweaty backs..
Anyway I'll stop here because I know I'm just going to get bashed by everyone for "complaining" so much about this, but I know if it were to happen it really would improve the experience of the festival as far as the enjoying the show factor goes

Though I agree with your post (I'm 5'9"), the fest grew by 10,000 at the very most. I remember last year being a near sell out.

More shade is the big thing - I was really, really aware of the need for that this year. There were so many times that I had to forget about seeing/hearing a show I was interested in because I just didn't have a choice, I needed to sit down in some shade. And it's not super easy to find any! I think the entire area between This Tent and the Other Tent is prime real estate for some shade of some sort - even with the food trucks and Splash-a-Roo there there's still a lot of open space, they could construct a giant shaded area there. Lots of empty space to the right of the comedy tent too, and I'm sure there are other spots where shade structures of some sort could be built.
The sound didn't seem so great this year, but maybe it's just because it was crowded and I was ending up farther back than I'm used to a lot.
I don't like that they added mushrooms for the unfiltered water - it's confusing and makes it harder to tell what's filtered and what's not. At least they did have the little water tent/shed things for the unfiltered too, but it took us forever to actually locate those and it wasn't until after we finally found one that we realized some of the mushrooms were unfiltered.
The cuckoo clock was awesome but WAY too loud. And/or the sound lasted too long.
The whole comedy tent setup (with the ticket line and then having to come back to get in a second line if you want a good seat) still needs fixing, but that's something that's been a problem for a while and I have no idea how to make it better, so I can't complain much about that.
And I agree that the perpetual muddy spot heading into What Stage needs to be filled in somehow.
In my opinion the changes to the portapotties in Centeroo hurt more than they helped, but I could be wrong about that.

I have to say up front I had an amazing, amazing weekend, as usual. This was my sixth trip to the farm, and my sixth straight trip home with a ton of great stories. Having written that, I agree with some of the recommendations: - Keep the water fountains, roo, but add more or an additional shed in Centeroo. Most of the time I got water with less than a 10 minute wait, but when the water pressure was low, the lines became more daunting, even at night. - Add more porta pots in Centeroo. Some of the lines were ludicrous. - Agreed on the screens for the tents. When a show gets packed, as often happened last weekend, it's impossible to see the stage unless your Kareem Abdul Jabbar. - Create more shade structures if the date's going to remain in June. This year was cooler than last, but it was still quite hot, particularly for people who are not used to it. - Address the makeshift creek/wet spot everyone else is referencing on the way from What into the interior of Centeroo. People could easily break and ankle on those pallets when it gets crowded and the post headliner late night rush is on. Having written all that, I do think they are listening and making positive changes each year. There were more fountains this year in Centeroo than last and they attempted to provide shade over the porta pots in Centeroo. Also, they added screens at Which, and the sports bar was a nice touch, as was the new cuckoo clock tower.

Yeah, I didn't like the burned out lights. The ferris wheel was asymetrical and it hurt my eyes. The This Tent at night instead said "sTent". It's only four days. You would think they would get it fixed.
Amen on the less tickets idea. I also say take some of the millions of dollars and transplant lots of big pretty trees all over the place. They would provide shade and help stop all the sound from bleeding. And for God's sake never let the sound go crappy again. Alison Krauss and Buffalo Springfield were unforgivable. Buffalo Springfield was one the biggest draws for me. Last year, I went real early for the Lips and it was too tight with people there for my taste but even when I backed up for the second set it sounded great. I was about 40 yards from the stage for Buff and it sounded like my crappy boombox. For what it costs and the trouble it takes to get there that left me really unhappy.
PS They need to fire the security guy who made me toss my two liter empty water bottle. I was thirsty a lot because of that. That was for my tent and Centeroo. And I loved hiking all the way to Centeroo just to wait twenty more minuted to fill my little water bottle after that only to be parched again halfway through the next band. They could even have people walk around selling bottled water for what it costs at Walmart just as a courtesy. I mean, people ARE dying.
One more thing, they should put little stairways leading to platforms on the sides of the tent stages so like the guitarist could go up there and play a solo or whatever. It would be nice to actually see the bands occasionally. And higher drum risers. That would cost a pittance.

Instead of those water sheds they had nice sinks in a covered area with great water pressure. I washed up by ones next to the cinema tent (and nearby one of the blue mushroom fill-up stations) a lot. They were the same exact thing as the water sheds only instead of a straight line they were set up in more of a "U" shape. I thought they were fantastic.
- Foremost, stick to bands and artists that promote positivity. In other words, not Eminem.
- Taller stages in the tents and a screen on the side of ALL stages
- Bridges joining Centeroo and What Stage areas. Pallets don't seem to cut it, especially for those in wheel chairs.
- Service Centeroo portos more often to prevent overflow. River of urine Friday 2011 was nasty.
- Move the big comedy acts and film Q&As to a tent. I've been to Roo twice now and still have not been able to see a comedy or film star in the Comedy or Cinema tent.
Get rid of the On Tap Lounge. It ruined every Which Stage show with the sound bleed. There's just not room for it there and I can't think of anywhere else they can put it. I know they won't do that because beer is a big sponsor but find a way to keep that noise away from Which Stage.
My first and largest complaint is that on wednesday/thursday the parking people need to be better educated. Last year was a disaster, and this year we had a tent in tent city, but no one could tell us how to get there. We had vendors yelling at us, parking attendants shrugging their shoulders. It is unacceptable. Once we found it it ran smooth. but sweet jesus, i just want people to tell me where to go.
The sound on Other sucked for some shows...the sound on Which was always terrible. I could hear lil wayne clearer from my tent than I could from the bobbleheads. (also the sound bleed from the on tap lounge was unacceptable).
Fill in the creek, getting through there was a nightmare. More shade. I dont know who designs shade structures with holes in them that remove any shade they might give.
More toilets...I should never have to consider leaving centeroo and coming back in because i think it would be shorter than waiting in the insane line.
I had a GREAT time, saw a lot of great acts. But there are things they must improve.

1. A permanent bridge connecting Which/What. The water reservoir that always builds there leads to unfortunate delays. Those wooden skids do nothing but slow things down and allow the annoying beer vendor guy to make stupid comments through his megaphone.
2. Expand Centeroo slightly and make better use of it. Construct a better line-up/ human traffic snake into the Comedy tent, add a couple more corporate sponsored shade pavilions, put picnic tables in the space behind and between This tent and Splasharoo, etc.
3. Do away with the large hip hop headliner. Haven't we sort of cleared that division out anyways? I felt like Em and Wayne were 2 wastes of big name acts before the fest and hold that thought even stronger looking back.
4. If the weather has been dry and hot and is looking to stay that way all weekend, have a few farm planes fly over and water bomb Centeroo (that dust was out of hand). Or, maybe I will just pack a bandana next year
- Love the food trucks but miss Arts N' Such.. I mean srsly things used to be on fire! so much more fun then looking at a waterslide
- A bridge or solid plastic planks that are extra long, are not a bad idea between What and Which .. though I'm sure the problem is, that right there is a natural canal and the run off from every direction pools that way. Probably not helped by some vendors who I saw dumping into it like it was a sewage river. Also the bridge solution isn't the easiest because if were to rain the canal opens up further which could make like that unstable. Kind of a crapshoot
-Tell EVERYONE to bring bandanas as much as water, because keeping your mouth covered can save you a lot of dizziness/trouble. That air quality kicks in just as much as dehydration after a day or two
