Just curious. I've heard a few people say this year was their favorite year. It was mine, only because its only competition is last year and I had an unbelievable time this year. Only thing I saw that was disappointing was Weezy.
Also enjoyed hangin' out with all you inforoosters for much of the weekend: Zapp, NoD, Lerxst, Airline, AWATD, baconus, etc. Didn't make it to the brunch but still met a lot of you guys.
2008 was my favorite mostly because it was my first and had the incredible night of Pearl Jam into Sigur Ros into Ghostland Observatory. But 2011 is a close second.
Favorite is a little subjective, I probably had the best time and caught the most shows this year for sure. You get better at everything with experience, and knowing some amazing people on here has helped out as well. I think other years had better lineups, but overall I had the best personal experience yet.
Glad to hear you had a great time, Jess. What were your favorite sets from the weekend?
Hmmm, in no particular order
Gogol Pretty Lights SCI Primus Devotchka Ray Lamontagne Old Crow
I also just generally had a blast, it did help a good friend of mine had a vendor booth where I could chill in back use a cooler and recharge things however. It was a lifesaver a couple of times.

Wait...Jess liked Pretty Lights? The world is a-changin!

I also enjoyed Sasha and Digweed in 07, it is not changing that much. My tastes are pretty eclectic, I am not really devoted to a particular genre I like what I like.

Haha. Gonna guess it was Buffalo. So glad we got in the pit for their set, especially after hearing/reading so many complaints about how bad the sound was from far away.
this year was probably my least favorite of the 3 I've been to, for several reasons. A couple of those have to do with the festival itself but most have to do with just plain bad luck.
the saving graces were the brunch and the inforoosters, and the amazing music that I got to see.
Like Wolfman Jess said, favorite is all subjective. All three I've been to were amazing in their own way, though. '08 was my first Roo, so I might be more biased towards it for that reason, but it really was a fantastic lineup. It's funny - everybody crapped on the lineup when it came out, and now a lot of people consider it among the best. '09 was also awesome from top to bottom, and I couldn't have cared less about Bruce or Phish to be honest - but I liked the positive energy some of their hardcore fans brought. I still need a bit of perspective before I can properly rank '11 - I'm still in the "whoa, what the fuck just happened?" afterglow right now, but I would say it's perhaps just behind '08 and a fair bit ahead of '09.
2009, my first, was my favorite. This year was definitely my least favorite because of having to leave early and having my grandmothers recent passing on my mind, but I would say of my top 10 roo sets, like half of them are from this year. MMJ, AF, BS and !!! all blew me away.
I want to say this but it's so tough. I had the best time this year, but 2006 was my first year and it was such a crazy experience having Roo '06 be my first festival experience. If I hadn't seen Radiohead in 2006, this year would easily take the cake for me. Either way I voted 2011 because I thought this was by far the most solid lineup IMO.
Same here...Radiohead's truly amazing, magical set on top of amazing sets by Beck, Oysterhead, Tom Petty feat. Stevie Nicks...2006 set the standard in my book.
