While it wasn't crazy in terms of "Holy shit, that mans shlong is hanging out..." I did see a lot of people from my university. Since the population is mostly bros, I was amazed.
The upside is that most of them stopped by to say hello (or "Argggh" as is the tradition) and offer crappy beer when they noticed me.
My favorite crazy moment was in a golf-cart taxi talking to a guy who kept beating himself up about "losing his girlfriend." I felt bad and tried to be sympathetic. Minutes later his buddy turns to me and says, "no no, he actually LOST his girlfriend. We wandered off and then she was gone." Then he speculated with us if the official bonnaroo song has subliminal messaging. Best part of the festival!
So after the Opeth show, and before NOFX I was walking by the fountain and saw a naked guy running around and taunting safey patrol. At first I was pretty upset at the people taking the photos and video of this guy who was clearly out of it. After a bit though when he refused to take any of the clothes people were offering, and had to get tackled by medics, I didn't feel so bad.
Anyone see this guy or anything else?
Ya I saw him. We actually found the compression shorts he was wearing apparently before we saw him. Because my buddy found them and picked them up for some reason and a vendor said they belong to a naked guy. 40 feet later we ran into him. I made my buddy throw back the shorts and he wouldn't put them on.
They sure acted like it when Bootsy pulled him up on stage from the crowd and paused for photos. I'm sure Kareem's seen P-funk a few times back in the day.
Here's a pic. One of the more random celebs there this year:
Also did anyone see the guy who had a Pee-Wee Herman ventriloquist dummy on a large stake? Guy had to have been to at least half of the shows I was at. Funniest part is when someone had something else on a large stick and the two were fighting during The Sword.
I give you: Pee-Wee-On-A-Stick being fed Chicken-On-A-Stick by Guy-On-I-Have-No-Idea-What.
Edit: and I just noticed the background sign: "on a stick"...

By the way, did anybody else see Fisher Stevens? He was standing right in front of my girlfriend and I in the pit during the Black Keys. I was so stunned to find myself face to face with him that he was gone before I thought to take a picture!
got a kick out of the guy near Camp Darth Vader in Overalls with a ladder and paint bucket in hand, attempting to paint the sky, no idea what he was on.
Thinking back on my Roo experience I think the craziest thing I saw was the guy going for a run. Isn't Bonnaroo a good enough excuse to take a couple days off from your cardio regime?
i saw two runners! a young guy and a young girl, at separate times but always around 7-8am. both looked pretty fit (like they would maybe go for a run no matter where they are) but still, it's bonnaroo!

Whoa, George Minkowski was at Bonnaroo!? Was he having weird flashbacks about being on a ferris wheel??

I didn't see anything overly crazy this year but there was some fun ridiculous stuff:
Wednesday night I was walking around the campground with the two girls I came with and we passed this Santa looking old dude sitting on a lawn chair by the road. He asked me "Have you seen my dog? His name is Opium." That was funny and sad.
Seeing Pee-Wee on a stick around throughout the festival was fun. I always love seeing whatever ridiculous shit people find to put up on poles on festivals. Like it's something I knew nothing about before going to my first festival, Bonnaroo 2010, but now know it's a festival staple wherever.
The amount of people at the Sleigh Bells show was insane. I was up front, but had to leave to go help a friend who was on the outside of the tent. It was actually fun watching the show from there because we got to see how far the crowd stretched back. Dudes on campers outside the fence were watching from atop their campers on chairs. This dude climbed up one of the support cables of the tents and people handed him their whatever on a stick so he was rocking that and glow stuff. With him up there, the glow and sticks everywhere, the huge crowd, late night, it was a great way to kick off Roo.
Saw a Braveheart looking body paint dude at one of the water stations in the left back corner of What. He was in a speedo, covered in blue glitter paint, and had dark blue contact lenses on. Said he was going to be at Scissor Sisters that night because it'd be criminal for a guy with that much body glitter on not to go.
There was a naked blowup doll getting tossed around the crowd for much of Robyn that was fun to watch, and the cameraman followed it for a bit too.
Not sure if im posting int he right area cause this is my first post or ever being on inforoo for that matter.
In '09 at the Pretty Lights show there was a guy in a clown looking suit with a crystal ball that he had "floating" on his hands. It was rather crazy.
Does anyone remember seeing this and know where I could find a picture/video of it to prove to myself that I did not imagine this? Or point me in the right direction to making this post in the right area.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die - HST

His contact lenses were borderline creepshow, and he -- unlike most other people whose portraits I took -- was as annoyed as hell with me for asking if I could photograph him, which made him even more interesting. This isn't technically a great shot, but he was definitely one of the better subjects I ran across.

Naked Trash Picker, Monday morning. He had obviouslt met lucy during the Panic. There was a look of wonderment on his face just barely out-weighed by the, uh...er, cack.

while sts9 was playing, we noticed an older guy in a hawaiian shirt with a parrot on his shoulder smoking something. someone asked him if he ever gave his parrot hits, and he responded by putting the parrot's head in his mouth and exhaling smoke all over its face and in its mouth. he then said "she loves to get high".

I met a girl on a plane a few weeks ago and we talked the entire flight. She was telling me about hitchhiking around Hawaii. Some guy who picked her up let her sleep on his porch for a week. He had this parrot that would show up every morning and wake her by kind of pecking around her ear. The guy whose place it was also let his parrot smoke some of his pot, apparently by putting a joint in its mouth. I guess parrots like to party. Oh and at the end of the flight the girl offered me some LSD haha.
Seeing an unbelievably tall man walk right by me along with two security guards and then realizing it was Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Not the sort of celebrity I expected to see.
Uh wtf Jabbar was partying at 'Roo? Didn't realize that was his scene...

Haha if any1 was as lucky as me to have worked the front gate, you would have seen the incredible ammount of confiscated stuff. Not only illegal things, like 3 hefty bags of a leafy substance crammed into a tent getting picked up by a police officer and seeing this dudes reaction...im talking some ish like ten samuri swords in a day, whole truck of glass bottles, enough baseball bats, golf clubs, and hockey sticks to start a peewee team anywhere in the country...also my first Roo in 09 i was at the techno arcade latenight and say a dude in a panda outfit being fed glowsticks threw the costume really freaked me out the first time i seen it.

I REMEMBER THAT GUY! He stood near my friend and I during Arcade Fire and smelled god awful!

it might not be that wierd but it was my first roo last year, i woke up one morning. stumbled out of my tent, looked over and some girl who id never seen and wasnt in our little group was taking a dump in the middle of someones campsite. i never saw her again and this was on like friday. i just kinda stumbled back into my tent and grabbed my bottle of vodka and started drinking assuming it was gonna be random stuff like that the entire time. but that was the wierdest

I love that this started with "It might not be that weird..."

Where was this? Someone did the exact same thing to my campsite.
