The "VIP" is pretty lame other than "free" drinks. VIP section in the FAR BACK of stage 2? And the Chalets get obstructed view for stage 1? What the hell is that about? hahahaha
As far as the lineup, Sunday is radio day. Here is my thoughts on this: They will be pulling from Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville/Daytona as well as the rest of the state (including Orlando obviously). They did a great thing for us by making the good lineup day Sat. We can buy Sat tickets and not have to deal with all the yagovs there to hear the one or 2 radio hits they bought their ticket for. PLUS we can party our asses off and be fresh for work Monday morning! Works for me! They get the support from the festival crowd that is willing to pay 80 bucks and a tank of gas to go see a really good day of music, then they collect money from the media drenched masses. So next year, they can book a much better lineup - add a big name jam band and maybe add a building close by for some late night DJ sets. Miami has a kickass electronic scene, and is close and that would pump a lot more $ in. All in all, not bad for a first year - I like the separation of good and crap days. There are people on the other side looking at it like "wow sat sucks but I AM SO GOING TO SUNDAY!!!" and I think thats good.
Im going to support the festival in hopes that next year they blow me away.
It isnt totally clear, but it looks like to me that you can choose either reserved seating, or field. The reserved seating is basically the lower half of the bowl on one side. Same as VIP, but opposite side of the stage. I am curious to know though if you get a seat number, or if its just go sit where you want in that section.

Indeed, Field is all GA standing room only, aka what you are used to at festivals, or any arena/stadium show ever that has had a GA floor.
The seats are reserved seats, you will technically have to sit in the seat you purchase. Of course, you can see what seat you are getting before you actually purchase it, so don't be that person that ends up complaining about how your seat isn't worth the price when you can be fully aware of what you are getting when you purchase it.
Also, I'm curious how strict they will be on the seating, I'm sure it will be strict at night during the major acts, but earlier in the day I would think it will be pretty easy to move to a closer seat. As long as everyone is polite about, aka moving from other people's seats when asked, it shouldn't be a big issue.

I may actually end up going to this. Saturday's lineup kicks ass and theres a few things on Sunday I'd like to go to. Think I convinced my whole family to go because they all like classic rock/new shitty country. But It'd be fun.

I'm in your boat ITM, I'm going, I really like the Saturday lineup, there's something I want to see all day. Sunday is the day that my family and most of my friends are interested in, I wouldn't mind seeing Bob Segar and Warren Haynes. It's so in my backyard that it would be dense not to go.

I was going to go to this until Bob Seger was just announced coming about 20 minutes from where I live and I got some friends that work at the box office so it will be so awesome!!!

I decided to just do today, Sunday is just too weak. Heading out in a bit - Gogol Bordello, The Felice Brothers, The Avett Brothers, The Pixies, The Raconteurs and The Killers is a pretty good deal for $90 and the weather is perfect today. If anybody is still going hope you have fun.
The fest seemed a bit empty, but that meant you could easily get to the front of ANY stage for ANY artist you wanted. Compared to Roo where my GF can barely ever see a band, she had a great time. On the main stage we saw Gogol Bordello, Kid Cudi, The Pixies, and The Killers all from very near the front of the GA crowd. Also saw Lucero, Less Than Jake and The Roots up close on side stages.
BTW, even the side stages had video screens.
Orlando Calling staff was a bit disorganized and uninformed, but that can be expected on the first year of a new fest. Plus, this meant it was easier to go places we probably weren't meant to have access to (We were behind the stage watching the fireworks go off at the end of The Killers set).
I thought it was a great experience and especially for a first year festival. The music line up both days offered alot of diverse options and was one of the best two days of music in my life. I say that having seen hundreds of concerts. It was a good logistical setup too being at a stadium in terms of concessions and restroom facilities. The sound quality at the shows was solid too. I will definitely go back next year.

Yep, I thought it was really good. We saw everything we wanted to and had a great time. I was home an hour after I left the venue to boot. It felt to me about the same as DeLuna from a crowd standpoint although I didn't go on Sunday to OC. I hope they did well enough to come back next year, the promoter spoke confidently about a return on the news on Sunday.

No Orlando calling 2012 Posted on FB: Unfortunately Orlando Calling will not be happening this year, but we are continuing to have discussions in the city to see if there is an opportunity to bring it back in 2013. We will keep you updated on any developments.
Hopefully they'll be back bigger and better in 2013
