Great show last night. The opener was just odd. But Jeff's set was pretty great - I love it when entire crowds sing along. You know that everyone there is there out of love and totally involved in what's going on on the stage. <3

Six more days. I haven't anticipated a show this much in a long time.

Agree with all of this. While I love and respect Julian Koster for his contributions to Aeroplane, I could have dealt with a shorter set from The Music Tapes. As far as Jeff is concerned, my voice still hasn't fully recovered from singing like crazy and screaming for encores.

Yeah our opening band was called elephant ear or something like that. No idea who they were. Really odd too. Like a chick with an accordion, a long beard dude with a trumpet and another guy with a guitar... slow boring odd music. But - Jeff was great

I bet they were part of The Elephant 6 Collective - they are all effen weird. I need to post the video I took at the Holiday Surprise show - Elf Power and Olivia Tremor Control and some random Collective members leading a conga line with a tuba and a few drums all while throwing paper snowballs through a wire moon held up by a snowman.

I was sober. Scout's honor.
THAT's who it was!! ELF POWER. I totally turned to my brother and said during one song, "do you feel like you should be in a cape, wandering on a quest across an open plain covered in snow, and in animated form??? ...Like in The Last Unicorn?"
It would not have surprised me at all to see them doing a conga line. with a casket. and a keytar. or something of the same ilk.

AW! I love those guys! I knew it had to be Collective people. Jeff and all of them live in some compound near Athens and I imagine they conga line with rando items all. the. damn. time. Of Montreal is in there, too. All wackos. Elf Power is great in the right context, but if you don't know their stuff and you're waiting to see JEFF #^%#% MANGUM, I can see how they may disappoint.
For the record, I have never seen him. I have gone to every E6 show I could, just for a chance to *maybe* be near his greatness.

Completely agree, when he came back out to do the Vic Chesnut cover I felt as if my mind and heart were at their utter limit. Fucking beautiful and by far the most personal/intimate gig that I've ever attended. Amazing. Truly freaking amazing...

Yes that was great. We got very close (about 10 feet from Jeff) which surprised me since we weren't all that early. Fantastic show and Little Italy afterwards made the night even better.
