There was actually enough room at the Wilco show to strech out a blanket and sit if you needed. And you could've easily seen the show.
As far as more people knowing about it next year, I don't think it'll be a huge problem. Yes, more people know about it, but how many out of the 80,000 at Roo will know about it?

For shows in my "must see" category, I love to get as close as possible. I was right up front at Galactic this summer and Oysterhead last year. I've definately left those shows with diminished hearing, but it was so worth it. Being up front for a show you really want to see is such a rush.

Karma for that. I couldn't agree more. I've found that usually the most energy is towards the front of the stage. That's where all the biggest fans are. Even if I'm not the biggest fan of a band, it's still more fun
Seriously, it's the truth. My girlfriend and I got reasonably close for Widespread Panic and danced our asses off for the first half of their set before the sound got to be too much for us. It was incredibly fun. She'd never heard a single note by them before, and yet months later she still talks about how much fun she had being up close for their show.
Same for me on the barrier. I didnt know you could go in there either and on Sunday we were waiting for JBT and one of our friends said come on lets go up front. I was like, no we cant and she was like oh yes we can. We rolled right in there and there was hardly a crowd. It was larger behind the barrier.
I guess people just didnt realize that you could go in there. I thouhgt is was all VIP too.
I was up there too for JBT and man was that an awesome(AND HOT!!!) show..
No shiz, I thought I was going to die of heatstroke before that show was over. My wife and I drank all of the (one bottle) water we brought about halfway through and i was all dizzy and stuff just before it was over....JBT rocked the house though, one of the best preformances of the weekend IMO, just a bit too short!

Being up in front for the Ziggy show at Roo was like a religious experience. So was being up front and center for The Wailers' show at Lolla. Beyond amazing.
We were up there for The Police. They let us bring in anything. One dude had backpack, and we even had one of those soft cooler things full of beer and licquor. They count everyone as they went in and only let so many in. I f you left to pee or something, you couldn't get back in. If anyone up front during that show saw the guy peeing in a whiskey bottle during the middle of The Police set, that was my friend!

I envy you. 1 Youve seen Oysterhead 2. You were in front of the barricade.
