Going to see Aretha Franklin tomorrow night at the Ohio State Fair. Hopefully it is better than my other experience back in 2005 which was an expensive ticket at a very nice venue. No opener, she performed for under an hour focusing mostly on then new material and leaving the stage twice during that time; once to allow for a dance troupe routine and then her backup singers showcased their talents with a song on their own. We got a couple hits near the end of the show but they didn't pack any soul power as she saved all that for the newer songs she was promoting.

An Animal Collective DJ tour not featuring the only member of that group who actually makes interesting electronic music? Weird.
I honestly don't understand the point of bands doing DJ sets/tours. On some rare occasions you find someone who really puts together a show, but I've never had much interest in seeing the bassist from some random indie-psych-pop-whatever group play songs off his macbook.

I agree, it is fairly strange not to have Panda Bear involved in it. His solo tour would force him to miss the first 3 dates, but he could have joined them afterwards.
Oh well, I know I'd still be at the show if it were near me. Thankfully Panda Bear's coming through Austin in just a month and a half. Loved his set at Austin Psych Fest.

I saw 311 for the first time last night. YAWN...
JT was absolutely amazing when I saw him in December. That man puts on a fantastic show. You're going to have a blast!
