Has anybody caught any of this tour or seen Adrian Belew live? I should be in Cincinnati the night he closes his tour, and really don't have anything going on. Somebody convince me it's worth the $25 ticket and figuring out the 7 mile distance from downtown to the venue. Would it be better than spending my time at the casino/bar?

Trying to decide tonight between: Minus the Bear, Peter Hook and the Light, or Music from School House Rock presented by [The 90 year old dude who sung the songs in most all of the School House Rock videos].
Thinking about seeing Mavis Staples in March. Has anyone seen her life?
Twice this year, she's great. A barrel of energy, a tight band, some great covers of classic songs. It's a fun show. Granted the second time I saw her was at NEwport Folk Festival where they were celebrating her birthday and she brought out a ton of different artists as guests. Either way, go see her. Just a fun show from a real legend.
i accidentally deleted the email with the poster for this, so i'll just post the link. it's a free one-day festival in pittsburgh at 11+ venues around the strip district. january 17, 2015.

About a 98% chance I am going to see this on the 3rd. Will let you know how it was if I end up going. Can't imagine it being bad and setlist look pretty heavy on King Crimson stuff.
TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT: We are headed back out on the road in January to hit a lot of the towns full of freaks that we don't get to play too often. Hitting old movie theaters, some classic bars, and who the hell knows where else along the way. And to make it even louder, we are bringing EX HEX along for most of it. More dates being added. Check your local listings because tickets for most shows are on sale NOW. BLACK MOON SPELL WINTER TOUR 2015:

I was sad when I found out that King Tuff would not be the opener for Father John Misty nola show like he was on all of the other FJM shows before that, but now I am happy. Because I don't have to pay twice as much to see him and I get the EX HEX bonus. very nice...
Was going to go to FKA twigs in Orlando, already sold out
She played here in NOLA Saturday for $18. Show was sold out when I tried to get tickets. I was dumb for not buying when her tickets went on sale, especially for $18.

Damn! I think it was 25ish here, still pretty cheap.

I was gonna go to that, but the girl I've been goin to see in NOLA was over here for Thanksgiving, plus the Iron Bowl. I'm sure I'll get a chance to see her for $50 next year. ah.

I hate that. Luckily, not all do that. Sylvan Esso at Tipitina's was only $15 for their upcoming 2015 show, which is how much it was for the Gasa Gasa show that sold out early this year. Fingers crossed, FKA Twigs will play NOLA again next year and it won't be a huge price increase.
Hmmm. I had read a little bit about them over the last year or so and just checked out some YouTube. That's going to be a badass show I personally love Tips, and I'm going to try to get to that Earphunk show Friday after Christmas. But without serious plans for tomorrow night, we might see you there man. If so, I'll buy a round.
I'm visiting my brother and his girlfriend in New York City in January and we are going to the Future Islands and Dr. Dog shows on 1/9/15 and 1/10/15. Anyone else in that area/going?
I'm goin' to Brown Sabbath tomorrow night at Maison and to the Anders Osborne Xmas jam Saturday night at Tipitina's.

You're also older and have been to Tips when it was surely cooler. When I go, all I get is oversold shows, a buncha dickheads wearing Tipitina's shirts at Tips (ah), sticky floors and either no room to dance or no sight line. "Non-traditional" shows there are my favs. Skinny Puppy @ tips this year was my fav I've been to there.
Brown Sabbath is only $5!! Do it!
Unless they make the upstairs some vip crap I'll likely be up there. Tbh I would pay an extra $5 to be up there with less people so I can rage harder.

I remember seeing Fugazi and Violent Femmes (plus many others in the 90s) there and the shows were amazing. But as far as venues go in NOLA now, there are places with better sound and viewing areas. (Although, Toadies for the 10 yrs Rubberneck show was amazing!) I personally love One Eyed Jacks and would rather go to a show there than Tip's any day. Plus, they have super cheap shows too, I mean how do you beat the Melvin's for $30? But I guess its all just a matter of opinion.
I've seen the Melvins 16 times and it has never cost more than $20. Who was charging $30? I did have to miss the last show they played at OEJ though. Maybe they were charging more because of Pinkus being with them.

I want to say with fees and bullsh$t it was almost $30, but I could be wrong on the price. I know that King Buzzo there in June was less than $20 (w/fees) and Dax Riggs opened and it was the best Dax Riggs show that I have been to in YEARS. I guess he stepped it up for the King.
