Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I got recruited by a bunch of my retired derby teammates. I will give you a warning. It is extremely addictive. I know people that were like you, not sure if they wanted to join, whatever. Next thing you know, they are playing kickball three to five times a week. Summer leagues, winter leagues, Monday night pickups... seriously.
I am extremely uncoordinated, and feel like I might be hilariously awful at it and just embarrass myself and piss off the people who joined to actually be good or whatever. So that's a worry.
the only reason people join these is for the beer drinking after. I don't think you have to worry about anything
Agreed! And mad props to ya on your good taste. I just recently discovered Adam Arcuragi, thanks to Bob Boilen @ NPR Music. (Don't you just want to sit in a pub and drink & talk music w/that guy?) He played AA and Alabama Shakes on the same podcast episode this month, I believe.
Anyway...you'll find that around here, several Inforoosters (ZappBrannigan, Garageland & NoAge in particular) really stay on top of the emerging artist scene. Usually when I discover a new artist/group, I visit their Facebook page. And I'll be damned if 8 times out of 10, one of those guys has already liked the band. But not this time. I think you beat both of 'em to the Arcuragi bandwagon. Relish the moment. It won't happen often!
edit: sorry dude, I confused you w/the new guy (ArchStanton) who just joined! didn't realize you've been here a while.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Why am I so anxious about signing up for a beginners yoga class?
like cks said, it's something new. but go for it! they hold free yoga classes here all around the city throughout the summer and i've been going every week. i had never been to an actual yoga class before, and now i look forward to it every sunday. there are usually assistants walking around to help correct your form/poses so you're not hurting yourself. and everyone is so focused on their own practice that it feels judgment free.
I signed up. Then I realized none of my workout clothes were clean and our dryer is broken. So I just got done shopping for some new workout clothes, which will double as work clothes so I don't feel bad about spending the money. (Old Navy is having a sale on their activewear, btw. I suggest taking advantage online, if interested, as the deals are better)

Awww, thanks GL! Zapp's my b'day twin & I miss the hell outta him, too!
As for music, yeah, well, working for NPR has its benefits. Besides the private Tiny Desk Concert last week (&getting my drink on w/Bob Boilen!), I'm introduced to new music ALL THE TIME. If I had any free time, I'd come visit the Now Playing thread more often...
holls did you just happen to be on here or do you get notifications somehow and saw that I tagged/quoted you?? If it is the former, I am impressed with your timing!

We were going to take my daughter out to Malibu for her first trip to the beach, but the news kept saying to avoid the beaches (we settled on going to Santa Monica pier and it cleared up enough for her to at least play in the waves for 30 minutes). my friends' outdoor wedding Saturday night was a moist affair, to put it nicely, and we crossed that bridge that collapsed on I-10 about an hour before it happened. It was raining so hard we were driving about 30 MPH down the highway because was couldn't see anything.

Living here my whole life, I can honestly say this was the worst storm I can ever remember. Shit was crazy!
p.s. A Moist Affair sounds like a good title for a spoof romance novel.
Wait, I just read the article and it says, "On Saturday, Los Angeles, for instance, got 0.36 inches of rain, which beat its record on July 14, 1886, when it got 0.24 inches."
1/3" of a rain is a record setting flood in LA? WTF?
That's just a normal everyday rainy day here, and not even that wet of one. A real thunderstorm dumps 2-4" per HOUR here.
I do remember hearing something on NPR about how LA was trying to completely re-do their storm drainage though. Trying to help capture it and put it in retention areas instead of just letting it all rush out to the ocean. Is poor/no drainage what's causing the flooding? I'm just at a loss at how that amount of rain causes that.

I'm not sure about LA, but San Diego got over an inch on Saturday. We definitely don't have proper drainage for all that.

Phoenix doesn't have sewer drainage for rain, so if it comes down hard and fast, we have flash floods all over the city.

I was talking to the lady during Forecastle about it. She told me it did a solid rain once so far since she's been out there, and people stopped work in the office to go stare at it out the window.

To be fair, I guess we get pretty excited about snow flurries down here. All perspective, I guess. But ya, still weird to me.

Snow flurries was actually the exact parallel I was thinking of when I wrote that.
