Very well thought out conversation, Jaz and Dave Maynar. I appreciate the narrative and it was enlightening.
really a narrative is more a spoken or written account of connected events, probably easier for you think of it as a story. what Jaz and Dave Maynar had going on was a dialogue, which is when two people take part in a conversation or discussion to resolve a problem.
sorry sorry sorry
i guess i don't understand what mansplaining is really, because what i was trying to do here was make a joke by mansplaining the difference between dialogue and narrative in a slightly condescending tone. but since it appears nobody picked up on my joke, either it was a bad joke (likely) or i didn't understand what i was attempting to satirize.

Dear Spotify,
I do not speak Spanish, so I feel like targeting ads to me that are entirely in Spanish are a waste. We have had this talk before, but it seems you forgot.

I had forgotten that I did the three months for $.99 and just got my first bill. We use it so much on Alexa, that we have decided to keep it. I am mentioning this because I JUST noticed today that I hadn't heard an ad after playing music (under the radar against policy) all morning.
Most folks in the US could use Spanish and Mandarin (swap with Hindi, if one would like). In this day and age the world is a tiny place...the better you can easily talk to a wider swath of it the better most likely you will be IMO

We are all going to be speaking Mandarin in the future according to Josh Whedon. LOL

Boyfriend got contacted by someone from Tesla on LinkedIn today. He's on the phone with them right now. I'm feeling a lot of conflicting feelings right now.
Edit: He wasn't impressed. Thank god. I did not want to have to think about moving to Reno.

Hulu regularly gives me Spanish commercials. I think it's because I watched an original series a couple of years ago called East Los High which focused on Mexican American high school students. However, that show was not actually in Spanish.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I really should learn Spanish. I started to on Rosetta Stone, but I got busy and it got put off. It really helps that our awesome next door neighbor is an English-Spanish translator.

Give Duolingo a try. The app feels like playing a little game on your phone. It makes it easier to pick it up every day.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

My friend lived in Costa Rica for a few months for work and started Duolingo there. He has been continuing with it since he got back (early January) and spends at least an hour day on that app. He was my roomie for OBH and he was even doing a little bit of it there!

I met this dude on a jungle tour in CR that was acting like a local, but after a bit he confessed he was a dude from jersey who came down on a surf trip 20 years prior and just never left. He learned all his spanish the hard way.
I loved costa rica. For awhile before my daughter was born and I was sort of aimless I was looking to buy property nicaragua (cheaper than CR, and pretty safe for expats) and just work remotely doing CAD and programming work.
