Today is a bittersweet day. (a lot more sweet than bitter tho.) After spending the past eleven months working on a way to get back into UF, I'm finally back in for summer!!!!!
Bad news is I probably can't afford a Bonnaroo ticket anymore.
Finally I get to pursue a journalism degree!!!!!!
Congrats buddy! But as always, Quack the Gators, Rocky Top will always be home sweet home to me, go Vols.

Oh trust me I already got the application haha. Time to put those writing skills to the test.
Good luck!!! I want to endorse you, but I know that probably isn't part of the process hahaha.
It is really awesome that the board hosts a scholarship like that; where does the money for it come from?
Generous Inforoosters who want to give back to the wonderful members of this community and I'm assuming street team tickets donated by those generous Inforoosters. QSAROO is one of the most fantastic things this about this board.
Congrats, I'll have to get ahold of you sometime when I go up there (which is quite frequently) to catch a show or something. Oh man, just wait til you go to your first show at the Jam... Fucking hippies, haha, I love that place
Thanks! For sure dude just let me know whenever you're here! I'm excited about finally getting to experience Gaineville's music scene. For some odd reason I never made it out to a show my freshman year, I plan on changing that this summer.
The music community is quite small, there are really only two groups of people, the kids who only listen to EDM and the rest of us. The EDM kids go to clubs and the rest of us go to the Jam and Highdive and the Wooly for the most part. Everyone knows each other and we are all friends so we will probably end up meeting by chance at a show and not even realize it because if there is a show in Gainesville I'm almost guaranteed to know the people working/performing/running it and if it's any good, I'm almost guaranteed to be there.

jesus I wish minneapolis was like that. everyone is so damn far up their own ass about their view on anything, especially music. in the 3 years I've lived here, I've made ONE friend in the crowd that I still go to shows with.
I mean, fuck, everyone I go to bonnaroo with are people I've met in the crowd of a show or at a festival. same goes with the people I went to big ears and pitchfork with.

Damn, that sucks, it also has to do with it being a college town, so there are a lot of young folks always trying to meet new folks and I know so many people already that it seems like anybody I don't know directly, knows a friend or a friend of a friend or something and we are always cool, when we meet. I'm also one of the most friendly and easy going people you'll ever meet so I easily talk with everyone I bump into. Like, if you somehow manage to not become my friend, you are either the biggest douche ever or you're the most introverted, awkward person ever, and even that won't usually stop me from getting you to come around and be friends

from my personal experience, minnesota folks don't talk to eachother. maybe it's a southern thing, or so I'm told. but we're chatty and like to know people.
especially if i see you standing by yourself or if i'm by myself, i will always strike up conversation with people.

That seems like a great time tbh. Whenever I check bandsIntown those three venues always have the cool shows. The only shows I've been to in Gainesville thus far was fest last year, which was a fucking blast.

get outta minnesota? lol
Oh yeah, I forgot, Yankees are assholes 97% of the time. That's another reason, the Gainesville scene is so friendly, it's a southern thing

that's the plan!
it took me a while to notice it, but when I did it really made me begin to loathe living here. and you're totally right about the southern mentality - it's like that back in south dakota (muh homeland), too. it's a big reason why I have such a hard time with it. and every time I go somewhere (like knoxville last weekend) it gets harder and harder to come back here after being reminded what it's like elsewhere.

It is a GREAT time, fuck yeah, if you went to fest then we will definitely see each other at shows and get along great. I've got a lot of friends that went this year but I was at Hulaween so I couldn't go to fest this year but it always kicks ass! We will meet up and I'll tell you about the local scenes and what goes down where. Gainesville is a great place, I love it there

It is really awesome that the board hosts a scholarship like that; where does the money for it come from?
Generous board members. People who like to pay it forward.
OUR MISSION Our mission is to ignite the soul of the unlit with the powerful gift of giving, by giving.
THE BEGINNING QSAROO began life as the Quacking-Scrog-a-Roo ‘Scholarship’ to identify a recipient to receive two free tickets to a music festival. What we didn’t expect was that when we posted our plan on a message board, we didn’t just hear from people who wanted to apply for this scholarship – the emails started pouring in from people who wanted to know how they could contribute! When all was said and done, through the generosity of many, five tickets and many supplies were gifted.
Little did we know this effort was but a tiny tip of the iceberg. Through QSAROO the once strangers of all ages and walks of life are now dear friends living and sharing the same message. And when we saw what happens when we come together, we knew we had to take this further. Now we want to share the message beyond our community of music lovers.
WHAT WE DO Every day, in some way, there are people in need. Every day, in some way, everyone can give. The rapid pace of the world today has made it all too easy to focus on one’s self and not see the people and world around us. Our message is to see the world with new eyes, look beyond ourselves, and give a helping hand whenever possible. QSAROO is a not for profit group with the sole intention of promoting respect, kindness, awareness, and generosity to others.
DONATE If you’re interested in contributing to any of our gifts, you can donate via Paypal. Let us know if you’d like us to earmark your donation for anything in particular – like the Bonnaroo scholarship, or any other cause we might mention. And please, don’t feel obligated to! We’re by no means trying to campaign for your money; there are so many other ways you can give back or pay it forward.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
