Personally I'm not crazy about any candy type candy. When I'm hankering for something sweet, I reach for something chocolate based, like a candy bar. Mostly Twix.
I rarely eat candy, but Peanut Butter Twix are my motherfluffin' jam. Especially frozen.

I'm the exact opposite. I don't really have a sweet tooth to begin with, but if I get a candy, it's something sugar based like Skittles or gummy bears. I rarely buy chocolate (and then only if there is peanut butter involved- and never dark chocolate. Shudder.).
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I love sub simulator. Some of the top posts of all time will have you dying.
If you regularly go through the self checkout lanes with sixty items, let me know. I wanna fight you irl.
I only go through a regular aisle if I have alcohol and don't want to wait on whoever's running the self-checkout to come check my ID or if the lines for the self-checkouts are outrageous and the regular aisles are not. But if I have a really full cart, I will only go to the self-checkouts that have a carousel bagging area. Also, I'm very speedy in the self-checkout lanes.

The store I go to has like second generation self checkouts. There's three bag stands and a small area that fits maybe two bags. Take a bag off and put it in your cart? Computer locks until a cashier clears it. Today was filled with people who were not speedy and who repeatedly caused the checkout to lock either due to moving bags or general stupidity. Rather than seeking the cashiers attention, they would alternate between staring blankly at the screen, continuing to try to scan items, tapping the screen repeatedly and looking toward the cashier stand without making any noise, waving or anything else that might signal they needed help. The store also keeps this massive rotisserie chicken stand right next to the self checkouts which completely fucks the chances of any kind of legit line forming.
I have crowd and people issues which is why I do self checkout. I only do my big shopping on Wednesdays mid-morning when there's pretty much no one there. We have 8 checkouts and there's usually only me and a couple others. The woman who works self checkout greets me every Wednesday now, lol. (And I'm in and out... It drives me bonkers when idiots blame the machines for them not letting it do the weight check before they take their bags off, causing errors).

I have crowd issues if you can't tell.
That would bother me too. I'm always amazed at how quickly a self-checkout can bring out the idiot in a person.
Our store has four self-checkouts with two bag stands and a small area where bags can be moved to and then four self-checkouts with carousels that have four bag stands and a huge area on top where bags can be moved to. And they don't lock if you put something in your cart; you just press a button that says "keep item in cart," and it goes on without having to have a cashier do anything. Our store would be great if it wasn't always so full of shoppers.

One store has a button to touch if you've brought your own bags, but most of the time it has a spasm and can't recognize any bags. So you have to wait for a cashier.
Another doesn't have the button, so if you put your bags in the bagging area it freaks out and thinks you've put unscanned items in the bagging area.

This is why I leave that shit to the professionals 9 times out of 10. The technology just isn't good enough yet.
My god...I just realized that Donald Trump's rise to power actually mirrors Ben Wyatt's from Parks and Recreation...an unqualified candidate with no experience is elected by their peers as a reactionary choice to previous administrations...Ben ends up turning his city into ice town, and Trump ends up turning the world into a snow globe because of global warming...
Who do you think are building and writing the code for those automation machines? Way more people than the one person scanning your bag of potato chips.

It's good for the purpose it is intended for. The one's at my store are essentially express lanes. People just don't treat them as such. Ones at other stores like my local Wal-Mart are newer versions and mess up way less. For me, I just don't care for the interaction and like bagging my own things because the error rate for such a basic process is staggering.
I only use the self-checkouts as well (unless reasons aforementioned by NBF). But as a single girl, I don't have thaaaaat much food. Usually one really, really, overflowing basket. I'm that person who refuses to grab a cart and instead causes themselves pain and strife by struggling through the store with things falling everywhere. I think I move pretty fast and efficiently, but as most of my groceries are veggies, so they aren't quick scan type things, either.
I also have an issue with shopping with crowds, but like Zolah, I usually shop on off times. I regularly will run out to the grocery store on my lunch break. Alternatively, I am lucky enough to have a 4:30 end to the work day, so I can hit most places before the crowds hit. I rarely have to wait for more than one person in front of me. If I need to shop and I had to stay at work late, I often just won't go.
My biggest issues with people in the self-checkout is not when they're scanning, but when they are packing their bags. Some people really take their time.. pause to carefully fold up their receipt and put it away, chat with someone and not multi-task well. I move QUICK. I feel guilty holding people up otherwise.

Your grocery needs these.
They hold slightly more than a basket but are way smaller than a standard cart. Much easier to maneuver through the store especially when people don't stick to their side of the aisle.

Ours looks like this:
And only the Home Depot has self-checkout. NOLA is apparently not trustworthy enough to self-checkout.

funny enough, someone set out a bag of starburst on a communal table today at school. when I got to it, there were zero strawberries, a handful of cherry, a good amount of orange, and what looked like all of the lemon left.
