I used to absolutely hate talking on the phone, then I had a long distance relationship, so now I'm the guy who will call anybody just because it's efficient
wait, people don't have numbers programmed in their phone and actually dial numbers?
With all due respect to the 9 people who liked this post, have none of you ever worked at a job where you had a telephone at work? I understand if someone is solely on cellular. But if you have a job where you sometimes need to call clients, customers, attorneys or whatever from your work phone, you'll need the 10 digits. Y'all got me wondering if I'm spewing some dinosaur shit in the gig economy era where no one has an office or work phone line.

The only people who call are people concerned about your extended warranty. And apparently Teddy Flair.

LMAO. From the third Peter Gabriel album (Biko, Games Without Frontiers, No Self Control):
"Got to pick up the phone, I will call any number. I will talk to anyone..."

I’ve been working from home for the past year, so on the rare occasion that I call someone for work, there’s a pretty good chance I have their number in my phone, although I do occasionally have to put in a 10-digit number for that. When I was in the office, most of the numbers I called were 5 digits. I may have never called an outside line on my office phone at any of the three jobs I’ve had in the last 15 years. Not talking to people is one of my favorite things about my job.

His entire life, we never called my little brother by his birth name, always just called him Max. His co-workers and friends all call him his birth name, but the family still calls him Max. I honestly don't know if he resents us for that...

I've gone by a shortened version of my birth name my entire life, but my parents still call me the full name. I've told them multiple times I don't like it *including like two days ago when they asked outta the fucking blue*, only for them to say "well you're stuck with [dead name]."
i just responded to somebody's friend request from inforoo on facebook. assuming they are from inforoo anyway because our mutual friends are inforoo'ers. won't post their name for privacy but apologies it took me so long to accept, whoever you are.

I've got a bunch of those. I used to scroll through the username thread on the inforoo facebook group so I'd know who it was but who has that kind of time anymore?
Haha. For sure. When I hear the singular name "Alex" that's what comes to mind. Fortunately I read the book before I saw the midnight movie. It was almost like reading a Michael Moorcock book where you're forced to refer to a dictionary every few pages for terms like "aquiline" (like an eagle). Also fortunately, A Clockwork Orange has a glossary in the book that I had to refer to dozens of times to figure out what the slang actually meant until certain terms (e.g. Droogs) just becomes part of your understanding while reading. Cool name, odd fictional character.

so much this.
Congrats alex, wish you the absolute best on your journey

My friend told me something last night that I'm never going to forget
"Some things to remember: Safety first There is no 'right way' to be you A deadname’s a deadname, no matter how legally binding. I’m very proud of you for having the strength and courage to take these steps. And I’m proud to have you for a sibling."
(this was on a Discord roleplay server where our characters are siblings)
my friends' reactions have made me cry the happiest tears I think I can cry. Even just in the small moments like calling me Alex when asking me a question or saying "you're welcome, Alex." It all means so much right now.
"in the studio with pac during the recording of hit 'em up" making the rounds on tik tok is making me lol.
TikTok is truly amazing. I don't care that I'm twice the age of most of the people on it, it makes me laugh/think/feel something/etc daily. It's really helped brighten up this dark time.
