same. our house was built in the late 50's so we've tried to keep things in that era when we can, but no shame in liking a style that has held up over the years. just keep an eye out for legit, good quality mcm pieces that you like rather than paying insane amounts for reproductions at target or wherever.
My original mamie pink bathroom and MCM house says hello.
Please tell me your bathroom looks like this.
Except the toilet needs one of these. And a crochet TP cover.
I may have posted this a while ago but I just remembered it because of something my roommate said.
A couple months ago this girl I went to school with since middle school posted a picture of her and her friend in a booth at a bar with the caption “Only room for $45,000+“
And like, $45,000 a year is a respectable living, but also, I feel like that’s just what the average business student makes right out of college. Kind of a weird income level to flex about. Idk.

Yeah, definitely an odd number to flex about. I can say in bigger metros 45K-50K would be a good starting pay. If she’s more rural, 45K could absolutely seem like a lot. I graduated during the recession in 08-09 in a rural state and 45K would have been a fucking dream at 24-25 years old.

Yeah, not saying it’s not a good living and clearly did not do a good enough job clarifying that. It just seems like a weird thing to post when most people in her social circle probably already make that.
Also, 45k now is very different than it was even in 08-09. Certainly still a comfortable salary if you’re single and living with a roommate or something

I think about this very often
could it have been a joke? i'm also not besmirching that salary level, i made less than that in my first job out of college, but it feels like someone "flexing" Kirkland Signature Sneakers.

Knowing this girl, probably not. She’s all about the designer clothes and stuff. Like she’s the “very attractive and knows it” type

I mean I've personally never really made that much. But, Kyle's first job was way more than that, but he's also IT and had very high intelligence security clearance. 🤷♀️

For reference, the job I'm interviewing for pays 55k at a minimum. It's still in journalism though, so I'll take that tbh

Does she still live with her parents? Cause 45k can buy a lot of designer shit if it's 100% disposable income lol.

Idk her living situation and don’t want to make too many assumptions but from what I can tell, money is not a point of contention for her family
I was more just pointing out that you never like, hear rappers bragging about making $45,000. It’s like, comfortably middle class. We come from a pretty affluent area where it’s kind of expected that you make that post college. Clearly my upbringing has desensitized me a bit to that amount of money. I just kinda thought to myself “so you’re hanging out with all the same people? Cool”
well that was a waste of my fucking time offer's already been made to someone else
This is a huge bummer, sorry. BUT... it doesn't have to be a waste of your time. They DID bring you in after all. That means you were flagged as better than some other folks. Just stay in touch with people and you'll probably be top of the list when another gig opens up. Or you can try to set up a freelance relationship.
it's the "bringing me in when an offer's already been made" that fucking gets to me
Don't get too down about this. I literally had a prelim interview a couple weeks ago. the first thing they told me was they'd already filled it, but wanted to make sure I was still interested and would want to be considered in the future. I have another, more formal interview in a couple weeks because a new position opened up.
Follow up with them and make sure you let them know it's a job you want, location, media outlet, etc.
