I have applied for three jobs in two days. A couple of which I think I have a real shot at least getting interviews for. And one of them is with another contractor who is a semi-competitor with my company. Will be fun to see how that works out. But pretty sure due to the backstabbing and soap opera drama of where I work that word is on the street that I am looking....which might not be a bad thing...
WTF is up with bands naming themselves "____ the______" ???
There's been a spate of indie bands following that trend. Seriously, what happened to originality? Where's the explanation for this trend? It seems like indie bands are sitting around playing Mad Libs when trying to decide on a name. (Of course, there are the bands "No Need for a Name" - not to be confused with the band called "No Use for a Name" - but that's an entirely different rant.)
So, what.the.hell. is up with these names:
Mott the Hoople (OK, they've been around awhile and they're named after a book, so they're exonerated.)
Portugal. The Man (no, dudes...punctuation doesn't count as creativity unless you use ALL punctuation, e.g., "!!!")
Cage the Elephant
Foster the People
Young the Giant
I mean, reeeeeeeally???
::: deep, cleansing breaths :::
OK, stepping off my soap box now. Just had to get that out. We now return to your regularly scheduled programming, already in progress.
Sending prayers, positive thoughts and good vibes to the ones hurt and to the friends and families of the ones lost at the Indiana St. Fairgrounds. So sad!

I think it's a derivative of the trend of the "The _______" band names like: The Stokes, The Vines, The Hives, The Kooks, The National....
Put another word in front of "the" and it makes it new

First Listen: 'Muppets: The Green Album'
A new tribute to the music of the Muppets features contributions from Andrew Bird, My Morning Jacket, Weezer and more. Hear the entire album a week before its official release.
Cunningham creeps out of bed at dawn and stands outside Battle Company barracks shouting “ALLAHU AKHBAR!” into a bullhorn.
I have NO idea what this means....but ever since the Ft Hood massacre I've not been a fan of people shouting ANYTHING through bull horns, especially NOT in English! And just found out that someone one the army base I work on died of Legionaires Disease....and worked not in my complex, but we interact with that PEO ALL the time and had people from there in our all day meeting today. So now I wonder how they plan to handle this?? They are kind of closing off that particular office space and telling the employees it is their choice to come to work. Trying to get a testing method set up but since these people don't just work in their own building but have interaction with at LEAST half the base....wondering what the ultimate plan is?? Not fun!

It's been awhile since I read on the subject, but I did a research paper on Legionnaire's a few years ago, and I recall that it is largely transmitted via water vapor from, for instance, HVAC systems, hot tubs, etc. Person to person contact is far less of a risk. you should be fine, especially if it was casual contact.
This week is meeting HELL! IF and only IF I am lucky my work time OUTSIDE of meetings this week will be a whopping 10 hours this week...out of like 45 I worked....that is just insane. And no, I am NOT in MGMT and have NOT had the required lobotomy
COMMERCE CITY — Commerce City will shut off two water features flanking the municipal center when Phish performs at Dick's Sporting Goods Park over the Labor Day weekend, Mayor Paul Natale said today.
Natale said the move is just a precaution. The city is not worried that Phisheads will use the fountains to bathe or cool off during their three-day stay.
"It's not because we think Phish followers are not the best of people," said Natale. "But we just want to avoid a challenge that may or may not come up. We are more concerned about what may be placed in the fountains."
I have had a week of meetings from hell...with more next week I am sure, working the normal insane report period AND having to negotiate whether or not I go to DC for a major meeting at the Pentagon the lase week of Aug. Next week is Not Shaping up to be any better than this week!

I just got back from the ID Festival show in Camden and I have to say that it made me appreciate bonnaroo and the decency of the bonnaroo's attendees and the decency you inforoosters. The shows were all excellent, but it was the worst crowd ive seen, just full of dickheads. A huge brawl broke out next to me in the middle of Kaskade with haymakers galore and it got so intense Kaskade had to briefly stop his show. There were also a bunch of clowns throwing glowsticks at the djs and people trying to push their way to the front when there was obviously no room. Uh/Rant! Anyway it just made me think about all the quality people I've met over the years at bonnaroo and how the community of people makes it great. Here's to yall!
