#1 I have been running late for morning shifts lately so I set my alarm clock 15 minutes early. everything was going good until about half way to work I realized I forgot to brush my teeth in my tired stupor. So after pulling over at the next Walgreen's and buying supplies to not murder people with death morning breath I ended up 10 minutes late.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Welp, that was an instant "no." So, I'm not even gonna bother with the tattoo convention. That'll be too much.
It'll end up being me and my older niece this time. Just feel bad doing stuff without the younger niece.
When I was 13, my parents brought me to Woodstock. Just sayin'..
Ya my first concert was the reggae band culture when I was 3 weeks old and by the time I was 13 I had been to Dead shows, HORDE Fest w/ Neil, and plenty of other shows. I like to think those experiences, even though I don't remember many of them, are part of the reason I love live music so much.

The older niece comes from a more open parenting style home, the other from, as bacon put it, a more over protective home. Puts me in a weird spot as the "cool Aunt" sometimes because me and the one niece can do alot together while the younger one has to be kept a bit more "sheltered" and she gets bummed about the whole situation. Now, the music is becoming more interesting to both of them, but my brother and his wife don't want her doing this kind of stuff yet (which I don't judge them for, at least try to not judge them for). The older niece told me yesterday she is ready for a big music festival. The younger sat there and said "I'm ready too! But I won't be allowed." LOL. Le sigh. Time will change it all.
Thanks for all your help, guys. It's a tricky spot for me to be in sometimes, especially when my sis-in-law seems to get a little ticked at me sometimes for asking if her daughter can join in. But I don't want to exclude one of them either *shrug*
Waiting now to hear back from the parents on this one. Next will be permission to take them to the tattoo convention going on up here...

I'm taking my 9 year old daughter to the Gentlemen of the Road stopover in Troy. I know some people wouldn't approve. I want to allow her to experience all sorts of different (legal) activities under my guidance. I think that being in recovery gives me a different take on things like this......
2013~Bonnaroo, Gentlemen of the Road-Troy 2014~McDowell Mountain, Beale Street, Bonnaroo, Riot Fest 2015~Coachella 1, Bonnaroo 2016~Summer Camp, Bonnaroo, Live on the Green, Pilgrimage 2017~Bonnaroo, Live on the Green, Pilgrimage 2018~Bonnaroo

that's such a bummer. I personally feel that making anything "taboo" or sheltering kids too much is almost guaranteed to blow up in your face... speaking as an extremely sheltered kid who ended up being a super wild child as a teen.
I always try to introduce my daughter to things in a responsible way, but I figure if she is at music festivals with me and sees people smoke or whatever, the mystery is removed so it doesn't seem like such a big deal. we have really open dialogue about everything- sex, dr*gs, etc... I hope that she has an appropriate knowledge of things like that but also a foundation of integrity and love from me to help her make the right choices. or at least, far better choices than the ones I made growing up.

Nope, that didn't work. Nevermind. Thought I had a way to post that link so it worked.
That specific word filter was a joke from Quack Club at NFF this year and will be taken out once this place is a little more active and no longer in the off-season. For now everyone can just continue hate the word filter like always.
