Made it to the parking lot at work before I realized I had today off.
I did this once in high school except I went so far as to clock in and start working before one of my managers asked what I was doing there.
This is much better than the time I started driving to a festival before I remembered that I never asked for the time off. This is one of those times where I totally took advantage of the fact that my boss is my moms best friend and used to change my diapers. She still yelled at me.
I feel much better about not ever reading the Harry Potter series.
I must have smelt that shit out at a young age
Except it's not blatant in HP like it is in the Narnia series. You could go your whole life being a HP fan without really putting 2 and 2 together, which is why all the people on the previous page are so "WTF Christians are dumb HP is totally not Christian", which as you can see from the link (and from J.K. Rowling herself) is not really true.
J.K. Rowling never wanted to push religion, she just used the themes are inspiration. There is a reason that books like the Bible, Bhagavad Gita, Quran, P?li Canon, and other religious texts have survived so long. Regardless of what you believe, they are still great works of literature with incredible stories that have valuable lessons (both good and bad). The whole 'Christian' theme of Harry Potter (life, death, afterlife, sacrifice, etc) isn't really Christian in a strict sense. Stories like that have been told since the dawn of man (see the Epic of Gilgamesh).
Full disclosure: I gave up Christianity at a very young age and still remained a massive HP fan. I'm now a practicing Buddhist and STILL adore HP. Same goes for Narnia. I also love to read religious texts of all kinds. You don't have to let differing beliefs turn you off of something that may actually be highly enjoyable!

Stopped in Subway on the way home from work and while ordering my sub a man comes in completely covered in blood screaming for someone to call 911 and get him a towel. I call 911 and eventually try to calm him down. He had been stabbed outside in the parking lot, wound on his chest and on his hand. Completely crazy and scary scene.

I love Harry Potter so, so much. But I really detest organized religion. I guess I'm agnostic, if I have to label myself. I don't believe in absolutely nothing, but I surely don't believe in God. With HP the only religious theme I really picked up on was the theme of good vs. evil and the struggle within us to decide if we are good or evil, which is obvious in the books and doesn't require a lot of thought to pick up on. After reading that I see how religion inspired some of the writing, but really those are questions I think everyone deals with. With or without religion we all wonder what happens after you die. It's just one of life's unanswered questions.....

Thankfully you were there to document it with your phone! I hope you used the door on the right to exit.
Because I found the philosophy, doctrine, and teachings not only matched up with my personal beliefs, but also that adhering to them helped me become a happier person.

How can you be a happier person when you don't even exist?

I'm not sure you have a full understanding of Buddhist philosophy. And it's a bit much to delve into on the 'Random Thoughts' thread.

I'm glad you had your wits enough to help. It's such a scary scene.

Wow. Talk about ruining someone's evening, am I right?
