You are coming in for JazzFest right? How long are you going to be here again? We need to do a NOLA meet up.
Nope, not jazz fest, I'll be there next Thursday morning. My friend is having a bachelor party on the Saturday night. So my wife and I are coming in on Thursday and staying through Monday (leaving before Radiohead, poor planning). She's got one night on her own and the rest of the time we'll be having fun together.
Oh nice! She has a night on her own? Does she have plans? Leaving before Radiohead is literally the WORST planning. If she needs ideas for her night out, let me know.

Oh I'm sure she needs good ideas - she's meeting up with her friend down there who's pregnant so I'm sure they'll really be painting the town red
And yeah...when I saw that it was the night we leave - I know she looked at that too because she is not a fan of Radiohead at all!

that feeling when you find out that TOOL is finally coming back to st paul! only to realize you'll be seeing U2 on the farm that night, talk about mixed emotions. at least i've seen them a handful of times and will be able to get over....it is sad

I feel as though you are making a horrible decision right now and trying to justify it. It is never ok to miss Tool.

yea but i'm already going to roo with some really good friends and it'll probbably be our last year going so it'll still be fun for me!

Fair enough. As long as you know your decision is wrong.
oh i'm very very aware. the irony of it is that i showed a good friend of mine tool years ago and he loves them now. U2 is one of his fav bands of all time, we're now seeing each others favorite bands on the same night across the country

Yeah, but they're probably doing essentially the same set they did all last year. And to get U2 at Bonnaroo that day is probably a wise choice IMHO.

yea that's the thing, i've basically seen the show they're going to play (plus a new song or two), but i've seen the visuals and stage set up they've used for however many years now
If you suspect you got food poisoning from a restaurant, do you call said restaurant to let them know? I have no idea how this works.
Yeah. I'd deal directly with them and probably the manager via email or a letter and see what happens. If you just put in on a random app review, it doesn't give them the chance to make it up to you. Also if you just tell the host(ess) or wait-staff, they will thank you and tell you that they will be sure to tell the manager. But you want to deal with the manager so that whatever comps you get (even if it's just an apology) will be coming from someone with some power. If you were really in it for more, you could cc your local restaurant association. But then they'll have to open a file and maybe that's not where you wanted to go with it. It's hard to say for sure that you got food poisoning without a diagnosis though. A lot of those stomach bugs are contact illnesses, and you can pick them up anywhere (think cruise ships).

Yes. Then they are supposed to report it to the state health department (at least in NYS) if there are three or more people reporting illness at the same time

If everyone that went ate chicken and all parties got sick, it is a pretty good assumption that it was the chicken.
I got food poisoning from Chevy's after Katrina. There were four of us, each party of two order the same thing. So me and Ms. Susan got the same food poisoning symptoms and Melissa and Fran got the same two symptoms. We let them know and they had gone back afterwards, but I never went back. I have luckily only have had food poisoning twice, that time felt like death and I am so sorry if you are dealing with that now crazykittensmile.

I don't want any comps or anything, just want to let them know they should take an extra look at their ingredients. Husband and I had different dishes and he is very suddenly ill and I'm (thankfully - especially thankfully, being pregnant) fine.

Thankfully I am not (apparently it's extremely serious when you are pregnant and now I'm scared to eat anything - seriously haven't eaten yet today lol), but my poor husband is.
We tried a new restaurant last night and he had a pretty adventurous item (wild boar), while I just had shrimp. It's too bad because this place was really really yummy!

I sent the manager/owner an email.
Food poisoning takes a minimum 4 hours before symptoms show up.

We ate at like 7 and he got sick at 4am. So I think it's dinner.

I hear you. Btw, a lot of stomach issues come from other than the food stock itself. If line cook "x' doesn't wash their hands and has some cross contamination on them (from other food sources or failing to wash after going to the bathroom) or even a cutting board, knives or whatever, e coli and such are pretty easy to come down with too. I just hope it's only a 24 hour issue for him. I hate some fucking intestinal discomfort.

Thank you I really hope so too. One of my researchers has me paranoid about trichinosis now, oi vey.
It's pretty rare which is why pork is a medium/medium rare thing now (though I gotta say, I still prefer mine white when cooked). Pork Cares (obviously a biased site) says that you actually do have a chance of getting it from wild game meat. But your chance of catching it from store bought pork is like 1 in 154,000,000. However, I did find an instance in 1982 where 46 people in NY and RI got sick after eating pigs from 2 farms. They were Laotian and Cambodian refugees, and they didn't understand treatment and handling of US raised pork per NY Times. Article goes on to state, "...Since 1947, the number of cases of trichinosis in the United States has declined to fewer than 150 a year from an average of 350 a year. However, the disease remains a public health problem, particularly among members of ethnic groups who enjoy eating raw pork. Must Be Thoroughly Cooked."

Definitely. That is the ideal timing if you are going to get sick. They say that it takes between 4 and 12 hours for it to hit if you are going to get sick, but according to my mom the ideal time is 8 hours. I guess it really just depends on your digestive track.
esteban is so right though, it doesn't necessarily have to be from the food but the majority is from that. All this talk does is remind me of some of the reasons that I hated waiting tables. We had this hand washing station in the kitchen that after you washed you put your hand under the UV light (I am assuming UV) and it would show you all the germs on your hands, cuticles and fingernails. I am very OCD about hand washing and making sure that I have hand sanitizer with me.
I have also had MRSA (twice) and an e.coli infection once, I don't wish that on anyone but it literally can happen to anyone since both of those live inside of our bodies. Bodies are fucking gross and germs are worse.
So my neighbor, who ironically went to an early Bonnaroo but isn't a music person, snapped me a photo of a venue floor plan asking me what kind of tickets he should get. I was shocked that we was going to a show but gave him my opinion. Then I asked who it was for. Red Hot Chili Peppers he says. Where are they playing, I ask. Infinity Hall, he says. WHHAAATTTT?! I say. That's nuts (keep in mind, this is where I saw Dawes last weekend, and I don't need to make a RHCP vs Dawes comparison for you all).
So I check RHCPs site. All arenas, and nothing in CT at all. So I check Infinity's site... Red Hot Chili PIPERS. Scottish Celtic music with bagpipes.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
