If you're looking for love, probably not. If you're looking for loving, go for it.
I think its pretty funny, Ima practice some jokes on these ladies, and this is kinda flattering
honestly, if you open with something witty and not so pervy it's more likely to elicit a response. And don't go straight for the pervy stuff until at least.....5? comments in. Then go for it. I mean, if that's what you want. It's also just fun to mess with people and gauge reactions to off the wall comments. It's pretty funny. I've had some very interesting conversations with people just because I was bored.
Haha! Awesome. No judgement. I had seen the documentary, then I saw your S/N and was spurned by curiosity to ask the question.
I couldn't watch that documentary, I can't stand watching socially awkward people.
I didn't find the guys in Bronies to be particularly awkward. A lot of them actually seemed quite comfortable with themselves and their place in society. Now, if you really can't stand watching socially awkward people, then never ever watch the documentary "I Think We're Alone Now." That movie is just painful to watch.

Sounds great. Is it on Netflix?
That's where we watched it. I actually thought it was worth watching, but seriously, you might feel dirty after.

Is it just me, or do the silly word game threads seem like a shameless way to run up post counts? I mean who really enjoys reading two word posts where every successive post has one of the same words? (sigh)

They are also an effective way to waste time at work.

Stay outta the Song Title thread
I'm doing a pretty good at wasting time on real threads. This shiite is kind of addicting.

Sure, maybe. We're moving in a year, we're in the process of looking for a new house with a better backyard for a goldfish pond, vegetable gardens and gazebo.
I want to come too. Just don't make me watch cartoons.
Aww c'mon, give cartoons a chance! There's a whole subculture of weirdos like Pendleton Ward and Dan Harmon who get to be subversive and ask serious intellectual questions in the guise of producing children's shows. It's great stuff.
A few years ago, my wife was hospitalized with brain trauma that required experimental surgery and a six month hospital stay. While she was there, a little vinyl "bones labbit" figurine went missing. The combination of losing a large chunk of her memory and having massive amounts of time sitting bored in a hospital room lead her to obsess over finding it. The figurine never turned up. As a whatever (intellectual? eff titles and isms, we're all equal in death) the idea of a mass-produced piece of plastic gaining personal value was a splinter in my mind. The core of art is the idea of transference and conveyance of emotional value into an object. The gestalt viewer produces the value of the world around us.
I re-created the bones figure in a larger form as a one-of vinyl piece. The re-creation is infinitely more valuable in a logical sense, but in reality it's an emotionally empty piece, in absentia a tiny plastic figurine gained a significance that an actual object could not hold.
an inadequate replica.
As you ratchet at the question, you hit Warhol, Vertov, Sartre, Kurzweil, Hoffman, Huxley... an intellectual black hole to the heart of consciousness. Four empty wall drive us insane, trippers pick up bits of shiny metal and rocks, only later in sobriety to find their great importance to have faded. Some toys of childhood become shameful, others priceless artifacts. Tick and tock. Meaning and void.
irreverent satire
objects which retain value across time, 1940s ~ 1960s
iconography
kitsch
machines, new and old
a Saturday morning shrine
So I guess it's all rambling, pretentious bullshiz, but my fascination with vinyl, plastic, commercial art, is all ultimately just this grasping attempt at humanity, and what matters. The universe is amoral and vast. Life is confusing. We made up god, the truth is there is no truth, and the only things that matter are what matter to you. And maybe that's why I want to live in a movie theater filled with toys.
Enlightenment is a weird thing. When you genuinely realize that you can do anything, the universe insists on becoming complicated.

There's a very unfortunate group of people (we call them bogans) who flock to places like Thailand, Bali and Goa just for the party scene, with no respect for the local culture at all. It's very similar to what you see in the Caribbean and parts of Mexico. When you mix a lower-class culture with a middle-class income, it's a recipe for trashy ambassadors a-plenty.
And that's really what it all boils down to. I don't actually hate white people (surprise), but it just seems that Thailand has a knack for attracting obnoxious people (of all ethnicities) with no respect for the culture here. I knew that coming in though so I try not to let it get to me too much.

I'm still so jealous. My daughter is 1/4 Thai and I hope I have the chance to take her there one day. Maybe in the future I'll be seeking advice from you for some off the beaten track Thai travels

Absolutely. It's a country with a lot of issues, but there is a reason so many are willing to put up with the issues to live or travel here for extended periods of time. It's a beautiful place full of amazing people.

I find the games entertaining enough. And I would say its a side effect of playing the games that your post count increases, not that I play to increase my post count.
And although it sounds silly, you actually get to know people though the games. You learn the kind of music people like through the Song Title game, you learn peoples likes and dislikes through This or That, learn about people and common experiences through The Person Below Me. Then you get to show you've been paying attention through State Facts About the Person Above You game. I have actually learned more about some board members through playing games with them than in any thread.
It may not be your cup of tea, but that doesn't mean you should shit all over it.

I'll give bonus points to someone who can sh!t in a cup of tea.
