So I just found out one of my regulars from my old job back in AZ passed away back in May. We weren't super close friends or anything but it has me a little shaken because he died of a stroke a few days before his 30th birthday. A stroke!
The last time I saw him was before I made the move back to Mississippi. We actually sat down and had a long talk, the longest we've ever had, and he loved reading so I asked him to write down a list of books he recommended. I still have the list and every time I look at it I think "Soon" I feel really awful that I haven't tried to tackle that list.
I really need to stop putting things off. I know that each day isn't promised to us but times like this really show you how real that statement is. Rest in peace Scott. You were a great guy, hella weird, amazingly smart and it was always a pleasure to talk with you.
Sorry if this brings anyone down...I didn't know where else to post this. I was thinking about posting to his Facebook but I wasn't comfortable doing that. The only reason I even know is because someone tagged him in a post and it happened to pop on my feed. This sucks
I'm sorry for yours and bansheebeat 's losses. Losing people is tough, no matter how often you talked to them or how close you were. It always makes you think, but as long as you are able to take a little more appreciation for your time here as a result, then at least their death isn't meaningless. It's always hardest when it's someone around your age too, especially with something like a stroke at 30! That's awful. Way too young. I hope you and BB are both doing ok. <3
Phi I have that exact same arch picture hanging in my cubicle at work. Here it is with a primitive countdown timer for Bonnaroo 2013 twitpic.com/c5xjx6

GUYS! I am so hit and miss with this site and I feel bad, but I had a 10 day stretch where I went to Denver to see The Avett Bros for a few nights at Red Rocks, then came back and went down to Chicago for Pitchfork and saw a bunch of great sets including Danny Brown, St Vincent and managed to get second row for Neutral Milk Hotel. Then, a day after that I had my brain melted by Jack White back at home in Milwaukee. I thought of y'all the whole time! I have yet to 'roo (plans fell through and whatnot), but after surviving a stretch like that I am soooooooooo ready to head on down for 2015!
I am reading a where are they now article on the 85 bears and this was the Walter Payton part
"Payton has pursued other business ventures since his retirement as well, most of which have something to do with racing, but in 1995 he opened Walter Payton's Roundhouse a restaurant and brewery in Aurora, Illinois."
on the first note, I live about 4 minutes from the round house. His kids owned it for years and it had a little museum in it with his super bowl ring. it was super cool. Two Brother's brewing company owns it now. it's still cool, but not the same.
I hope everyone has watched this. My boyfriend grabbed me when I came in the door last night and made me sit down and watch this video immediately. For good reason.

I thought you guys would appreciate this, so the link is for my Dad, who is a young 73, dancing in a twist contest this past weekend. He has been in twist contests since the 60's, he loved dancing disco in the '70's and danced his way through 90's with me. Well, he's still twisting. Check him out and vote for the video, but really, I just posted this because he is the best twister I know. First dance I was ever taught!
He's in the ball cap and jeans. He's really getting it in the background. It's the video titled The Twist (duh) link

They had to keep him in the background cause he's out dancing everyone else.
