I just can't like them anymore. After seeing them at Sasquatch! last year with an extremely drunk Robert Pollard doing nothing but talking about how awesome he and GBV are and how he couldn't believe he had to go on stage after a no-name band (Chromeo) and how every other band at Sasquatch! sucked compared to them and we should feel honored to even be in their presence etc. It just kind of ruined it for me.
It was awful. I can't remember the exact exchange, but the guys from Chromeo stayed to the side to watch them until Pollard started spewing hate about them; naturally, they took off after that and Pollard flipped out and started saying how they didn't even deserve to be in the same state as GBV and they would never be as big. Pretty lame.
He was drinking from a handle of Jack the whole show.

Keep in mind you're talking about a band that had two buckets on stage for the "last show". One labeled "Vomit" the other was "Pee". I think the only other people that were more drunk at those shows I've seen was the band itself.
Bob's a d*ck. Nothing will ever change that. His saving grace is that he's brilliant.
