The new Phoenix sounds just like all their other albums, which is either great or disappointing, depending on your point of view.

I do agree with you there. There were several points where I thought it would have had way more pop with different mixing. Could be the version we are listening too.

I think it might be. I hope it might be. The songs themselves are Phoenix and they're great.
Which, now putting that into writing like that, makes me think maybe I actually do like it? Can the production of a record turn songs you inherently like into a bad album as a whole?
