I will be at NFF! and it will be my first year. My mom surprised me with tickets for her, my brother, and I for my birthday! Honestly one of the best gifts I have ever received. It will be my first festival experience with any of my family. We will be staying in Newport a couple of days before and after the festival, so any recommendations of things to check out?
My girlfriend was supposed to order tickets, of course she waited too long. I got one for Sunday, but had to order Saturday's through one of these brokers (think I paid like $180). Well, just got a call saying that order didn't go through, and now prices have doubled. =/ Just wondering if anybody on Inforoo has an extra to sell, I'd much rather deal with a real person than one of these brokers again.
I tried really hard to avoid profanity. =) So pissed about all of this. But I'll get there one way or another, we live in Newport so we can't NOT go.
If anybody can help me out, I'll be eternally grateful. Thanks!!
I wonder if they'll do any sort of tribute to Levon Helm. Even just a superjam type thing where they play Levon's and The Band's tunes would be amazing.
Good luck with the tickets kwrio! Hopefully it works out without breaking the bank. I don't think I have heard of anyone needing to sell, but I'll keep my ears (and eyes) open.
So nuts that it's sold out! Last year we (my parents and I) kept putting it off and then forgot about tickets, and then boom, 2 days gone and we decided to wait until this year. Tickets are all in hand.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if they do something. At least a couple bands playing his songs if nothing else.
I have a feeling that next summer either NFF or MJ are going to have a Levon tribute headlining set with many big time guests. A lot like the Birthday set at Mountain Jam 2010

That birthday set was magnificent. One of the most fun shows I've seen at a festival. So many great guests. So many great tunes.

Agreed! I'm used to a couple years ago, when buying tickets at the door was no problem. Crazy that last year it sold out 2 weeks before, and this year, almost 4 MONTHS before.
But I just bit the bullet and paid the outrageous fees at Stubhub. At least I got Friday and Sunday for face value. And we live in Newport, so I rationalize it by thinking about how much we save on gas/flight, hotel, etc.

Agreed, such a great time. I never made it to a ramble, which I regret, esp the one with MMJ, but his birthday bash was memorable for me in so many ways. 70 years old and behind the kit for damn near 3 hours straight. Here's to a LEGEND

Well, after PMing with Fawn and Quacker a bit, my wife and I will be first-time attendees of the Quack Club this year at NFF. We have tickets to the Wilco show on Fri and will be on the look out for Deer Tick after shows.
As I mentioned to them, I am currently deployed and am due back the week before Bonnaroo (in'sha Allah) and am originally from central Rhode Island. I am 25 and she is 30 and we are traveling up from southern Virginia.
Even being from RI, this our first Folk Fest and we are excited about it. Very excited to meet everyone!!

Looking forward to meeting you Stillwater and your lovely bride!! Thanks for the PMs.. Nice to get to know you a little.
Well it seems like there will be plenty to do in Newport Friday night. Jane Pickens is within walking distance of the main drag. Newport is not very big. And Jane Pickens is a small artsy theatre. It will not hold a lot of people.
