Well I'm thinking I'm going to camp Fort Stage on Staurday. I would love to see Robert Ellis again but I've only heard fantastic things about Brown Bird. Pres Hall with Del and Tao will be a blast and I would think there is a decant chance for a Yim sighting. I will be missing Johnny Corndawg but I imagine he shows up with Deer Tick at the after parties. Which is also the same reason I'll be skipping Deer Tick for the Shakes. Dawes is one of my favorite bands going so that's an easy choice. I would like to see Ben but I'll be seeing him at Forecastle so Patty Griffen it is. Then MMJ obviously

Pretty much this except I'll prob go over to see some of Guthrie Family for just a bit. Sunday is more heavily quad for me until JB. ;D
Jonny Corndawg .vs. Preservation Hall Jazz Band with Del McCoury and Tao Seeger - probably going to go with Preservation Hall on this one. I've seen Corndawg a few times and the other show seems more special. Corndawg will probably play with Deer Tick over the weekend.
Deer Tick .vs. Alabama Shakes - absolutely the worst conflict they could have come up with. Thankfully, I've seen both bands a lot and recently. Not sure what I'll be doing for this. Probably the beginning of Deer Tick then leave and catch Shakes. Deer Tick Friday and Saturday night will be killer.
After that Not much of a problem. I'll bounce around to different things. Probably Iron and Wine, Dawes, and definiely all of MMJ. What a short set
Sunday Conflicts:
Charles Bradley .vs. New Multitudes: - damn...tough call. Probably going to see New Multitudes full set then go to Bradley if possible. Then Back over for Gary Clark Jr.
Conor Oberst at 4:45 is cool but I would have liked to see Carl Broemel solo. Punch Brothers after Oberst will probably be a good way to wind down. Then I can head home some time after Jackson Browne.
Ya I would love to see a bit of the Guthrie family but at that point I'm going to have such a great spot I won't want to move
Just have some peeps around.. Long as your spot is staked out - unless its in the pit - you can come and go. Remember this is a 10K ticket venue - not 80+K. ;D
Oh - The LOML majorally spoiled me for my birthday by getting a sailboat charter out of newport saturday night. Seats 6 and 'the other 4 people are not coming'.
Have more pics of the fort without the crowds. Will post tomorrow. Tonight... fourth of July one block from Bristol. Get out the hose, sit out back, and water down the roof as the fireworks land on it. Its crazy here on the fourth.
(We'd be adding to it but brought home Levon instead of stopping at the TN/KY mega fireworks store.) ;D
This being after I told Ben on the street that I was excited for Newport and then one of the artists I most wanted to see gets scheduled opposite him! Maybe I'll start at Iron and then head to Ben.
Punch Brothers vs. Jackson Browne. Stoked for Punch Bros. but who knows when I'll see Jackson Browne again! And I don't want to miss The Pretender. I dunno. Thoughts?
"You look like you're listening to every note." - Lady to me during LCD's "final" show 2023: Mar 29 - Guster Apr 6 - Postmodern Jukebox Apr 26 - Father John Misty May 14 - Taylor Swift (Philly) May 17 - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss July 12 - moe. July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!

Saw Punch Brothers at Roo - awesome. That said...
Oh Wont you stayyyyyy.. just a little bit longer.....
NFWay i'm missing a minute of JB. Never thought I would see him live and not missing it!
Saturday is actually almost conflict free for me, which rules!
Sunday on the other hand.... I must see New Multitudes, but after that there's Tom Morello vs. Gary Clarke Jr vs. Head and the Heart. Not to mention missing some of Charles Bradley because of the aforementioned New Multitudes set. Basically from 1:40 on, Sunday is going to be a clusterfuck.
My only problem is Alabama Shakes vs. Deer Tick. Probably will go to Shakes on that one, and catch the start of DT - catch them somewhere else. They are local, can get away with skipping it.
The rest of the day except MMJ, I'll probably just go with the flow.
Sunday
Sara Watkins and Trampled By Turtles to start. Everything goes downhill quickly after that. Just straight up wtq????
Oh, and someone needs to watch my girlfriend while I'm at Watkins and TbT - she don't like the banjo music very much.
If I see a bunch of Charles Bradley at Forecastle, probably going New Multitudes here. If no, this could be split. NM to 215, Bradley for the rest.
Morello vs. Clark Jr. vs. H&tH is straight painful. I've seen all three before. Clark Jr. at Roo and partially at Mountain Jam. Morello in NYC on Mayday. H&tH at Newport last year. Leaning H&tH since this will probably be the only time I see them this year, while Clark is everywhere like Dawes and Morello shows up at every major Occupy event.
Between that and Jackson Browne (must see) is floating around time. Some interest in almost everything, so we'll see.
I like this schedule, no Major conflicts here. I see a lot of time at the Fort stage on Saturday and in the Beer pier. Same for Sunday as well, with a hop over to Gary Clark JR and a little bit of the Tallest Man on Earth, before some JB.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
At Bonnaroo, Gary Clark Jr turned a guitar into a turntable and started scratching on it or something close to that. Something is very special there and I got get more of it! then catch the end of THATH and a beer.

I tried to tell people who weren't at Gary's set that this happened, but they didn't take me seriously. It was almost like his answer to Skrillex. I'm not saying he was inspired by Skrillex, he just showed how easy that kind of thing was. The bass was thunderous. I'm glad to see Josh Nelson on the big stage at Bonnaroo. I've been seeing that guy play bass in Austin clubs for awhile now.

I'll be right there with you Scrog. I saw both sets at Roo and need more.
I was hoping to catch Sara Watkins but I want to catch the full Deep Dark Woods set. I got a small taste at Roo and want the full entree.

Can anyone tell where the museum stage is? I feel like it's not marked on the map. I'm sure i will find it when i get there but i can't imagine where it would be after going in past years.

I was wondering this as well.
Quacker, before 2pm I have no plans and I am gonna let the music or you take me where it wants to. I am kind of digging the deep dark woods. will check out Sara.

I know, right?
Travel plans are now finalized. Wednesday night we are staying with Dan's sister in NYC and will be in RI early Thursday afternoon, ready for pre-party work detail. Gotta make sure that hot tub is the correct temperature!

Have it turned down to 98/99 due to the weather so you can sit in it for hours with the music. Which i am going to do now. 10 hours of chores.. its time for this old lady.
Just to make sure- the only person that needs a Deer Tick ticket for FRIDAY night is LD, correct? I am going to give the others to friends if none of you need one.
