GL- I'm not finding any info on Forecastle camping this year. The fact that there's no links or camping pass prices makes me fear they nixed it this year. I'm awaiting email replies from AC and Forecastle. Will keep ya posted. Might book at Gault House late tonight if I don't hear back.
I'm thinking I could just fly in and taxi to a hotel in downtown. The hotel will be pricey but it will save me the $ of getting a car and would make everything really easy.
There are some decent rates for hotels through the forecastle site. I grabbed a room at the courtyard for $99.
Has anyone done VIP or know anymore than what is on the website? I am tempted. Thanks.
Ya I saw that one too. It's more than I would normally pay for a hotel but it is significantly cheaper than their normal rate (159 on hotels.com) and it is basically right there.

The location is why I grabbed it. While I am in town, I want to go to the Louisville Slugger Museum and it was not a bad walk to it either.

Oh man, have you guys watched the whole, local press conference with Ashley, J.K., Jim & Patrick? Jim sez Pat's theme is "Christmas in July." Thrilled.

Yeah I went VIP last year for a day. Not sure if they are selling day passes or not this year. Basically what you get is like a fenced off section on one side of the main stage right up front for your viewing pleasure. By the time Bassnectar came on people were fence hopping in droves. When Smashing Pumkins came on it was pretty packed. Mostly throughout the day though it was pretty empty. I might just do the day pass thing again this year if it is available.
Hahaha have a sense of humor man, it was a joke. If you have been in the Troo Music Lounge lately you would recognize the fact that every time some news breaks people start posting it over and over ala the RHCP dates. I'm just giving you a bit of good old fashioned shit. Nothing to get offended over.

I apologize for jumping on the defense. I didn't even catch the RHCP quote. But yea... my bad homie. I personally extend an invitation to enjoy some fine of KY's finest bourbon if we happen to run into each other at Forecastle
Also, deleted the comment, because I was rude.

Also, if anyone needs a ride or wants to carpool or anything like that I'd be glad to help. I know traffic and parking are going to be brutal. I live in town so I can have a few parked at my place and then carpool downtown.

I imagine somewhat cool being close to the water, but I could easily be wrong...
It will be the middle of July so it's basically going to feel like a sauna. Being near the river may help with picking up a breeze, but it also means more mosquitos. Expect it to be hot and muggy day and night.

OMG! I've been flat ass broke all month and just remembered I had $400 in my safe. I'm buying my ticket and putting the rest in the bank! Hell yes I'm going to Forecastle!
I started a thread last year as soon as AC jumped on board predicting they would blow it out of the water. It got mostly negative responses. I have a really good feeling the rest of the lineup will be solid. "Half Way to Forecastle" featured Big Boi and Pretty lights which is a major upgrade from the "half ways" of past. Not to mention getting to see MMJ in their home environment (I am luckily a Louisvillian and have seen MMJ several times in town, and a few times in other places. THEY BRING THE HEAT WHEN THEY PLAY AT HOME! Their CD release show at the Palace last April was insane!). This is a no brainer for a Jacket fan. Get your tickets quick I have a feeling they may go fast. The city of Louisville is all about supporting Local ventures and MMJ has a rabid following in town. Just local ticket sales will likely be a very large number. I would assume it will sell out at some point.
MMJ + Homefield advantage + curated stage (with likely sit ins) >>>>>>>>> $100 The rest is icing on the cake.
No question. That record release show would have been worth 100$ to me alone. A 3 day fest with a full (likely extended) MMJ set plus all the other shit. Even if the lineup isn't great it is an amazing bargain. If the lineup is as good as it could be it will be the best bargain ever.
The camping has always been at turners on the river in the past... not a fan of the place myself. I would recommend a hotel preferably downtown. There are several to chose from in walking distance.

So with the Radiohead Roo announcement it seems pretty unlikely that The Black Keys will be playing there (which we already figured). I think there is a good shot at them playing here though.

I doubt it. They did play there 3 years ago but probably too big for the fest now. At least if they are going with the same stage set up they had the last time.
