Sorry to continue the trend of creating artist-specific threads, but I've listening to Beck a ton lately (mostly because I'm super psyched about his Third Man vault remix). But he played his first full show in over two years last night, and it got me thinking; do you guys think he could/would headline Friday? Or is he still a fourth/fifth on-the-bill act?

I've tried to talk about this. I think he is Friday headliner size. I could also see late night which. Anything else is a step sown from his pre headliner for Radiohead spot.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

He hasn't gotten any bigger since 2007. If anything, he may have dropped a bit. I think he'd be preheadliner, which closer, or at the very most latenight which. I'd love to have him though. He's one of those guys I've been listening to forever and never had the opportunity to see live.

Sine 2006 which is when he played he has headlined ACL and outside lands (the other two headliners were Radiohead and Tom petty at os), so i think he actually has gotten bigger. Modern Guilt had success with mainstream with such songs as gamma ray. He also has taken on a Jack White role of just wanting to produce. I think a Radiohead, Phish, Beck top three is incredibly reasonable. This is all my opinion but he won't ever get put on closing the which. Maybe a MMJ pre headliner prime spot / beck rant
It's seemed to have recieved mixed reviews over the years, but Beck in 2006 was one of my top sets of the weekend. I've been wanting to see them again, since.
I do think he's dipped down in popularity in recent years, maybe to the point where he can play a comfortable late night Tent set. I'd be down for that.

He's definitely dipped, but theres no way he could play a tent.

The last time I saw him was in 94-95 at a little bar called Toad's Place in New Haven CT. There were maybe 500 people there and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to - still. I think it is a mistake to get hung up on Beck's present popularity. He is a special case. I believe that Roo likes to put on the best possible concert experience, and has to balance that with selling tickets (see: Eminem). I think that most people who will go to Roo will be thrilled to see him on the bill, and when they see the show they will be blown away. I like the idea of a Late night Which. Confining him to a tent would be a travesty.
I'm just thinking of some of the big time names that weren't hugely popular at the time, playing tent sets at Roo. Maybe Beck would be a disaster... but we've had some real big names playing in the middle of the day in a tent, and some even bigger names playing late night in a tent as even bigger names played in other tents and on stages.
theshining, to the Roo 06 mixed reviews thing, yes, I am pretty sure I recall some people on here referring to it as something other than "good", over the years. But, honestly, it's not a really heavily talked about set. It could be a misconception of mine, though, as everyone around me up at the front and to the right absolutely had a blast. It was almost like a variety show, but the music was pretty much nonstop, and some of the gimmicks they had were just real crowd pleasers and didn't try to cover up how well performed the show was (or wasn't).

hope is always better than no hope! like others above, i've been a longtime fan and have missed him many times over the years. i think the pre-headliner/which sentiments are the most accurate of where he would wind up performing, either would be fine with me!

I've wanted to see Beck since High School and I actually like Sea Change even more than his earlier stuff. I'd really be jazzed to see him on the lineup.

I don't think we will get beck because he'd be a headliner and we are already getting Radiohead and RHCP. And adding Beck to that would make the lineup pretty heavy on the whole, who was big in 1997 theme. But I love Beck. I love Beck.
It's gonna be Which Closer or Pre-Headliner. I think the opening up for Radiohead is the absolute perfect spot to put them in. Would love to see Beck on the farm, but if they were a latenight, I prolly would see something else as the craziness insues when you are in late night mode. So much good stuff going on it is typically hard for me to stay at one.
