Come on man, it would take some kind of homer to not realize Harrellson played like a huge chode in the tournament last year. Though I'll admit I don't know a ton about Zeller's personality.
About tonight's game...what were they going to do if it rained?

It would've been cancelled, accoarding to an article I read in the paper today. They constructed a court underneath, but they then realized the issues that would arise when you try to move 7000 people and a president into an area that can only hold 3000.
The Helms trophy is not a national championship. I hope you realize the recipient of the Helms Trophy was decided by a panel of "experts." Similar to the poll rankings we have today, except the "experts" could only go on what they saw in person or read in the papers and had no affiliation with the NCAA. UNC is the only that claims an additional championship as a result of this, but go ahead if you want, Kentucky was awarded the trophy once, too, so you are still behind. Kansas has two of them, but they don't have national championship banners hanging for them.
I honestly didn't know Kentucky won any one of them. I still think they should count, even though they were retroactively awarded, because there are very few disputes to their selections. That Tar Heels team went 26-0 that year, so it's unlikely they weren't the best team in college basketball.
I don't think they should count. If you want to make note of them in your media guide and whatnot that seems fine. But for some arbitrary poll to be called a national championship seems bogus to me. As far as them being the best team that year, maybe so, but often times in college basketball the best team doesn't end up winning the national title.

Harrellson played with a huge chip on his shoulder and, at times, he prolly went too far. But remember, he was supposed to be DEEP bench until Kantner got ruled uneligiable and the fact that he got drafted was remarkable.

My hatred for Kentucky Basketball is strong right now thanks to their obnoxious fans and this choad that decided to play super dirty and generally act like a jackass in last year's tourney:
as long as "the whinning bitch" Zeller plays at UNC, you really have no argument. He whines ALL the damn time. I watched him in high school in Indiana and guess what he did then? WHINED ALL THE DAMN TIME! His brother is heading to IU and guess what? HE WHINES ALL THE TIME TOO! I mean seriously....
Must run in the family. Why did all the UNC players come back this year? Oh yeah...they got beat in the elite 8 last year. No worries tho. Zeller will still whine.
Ladies and gentlemen, the "obnoxious fans" part of my argument.
Zeller really doesn't whine that much. And at least he doesn't give people the business below the belt and lose his shit every time he makes a layup the way that fucking scumbag Harrellson does.

To me, Kentucky basketball fans and Yankees fans are one in the same: ultimately, everything they say in regard to the sport (and I mean EVERYTHING) can essentially be boiled down to "BUT WE HAVE MORE WINS THAN YOU, NANNY NANNY BOO BOO!!!" I mean, it makes sense that picking an easy team to root for like UK or the Yankees would go hand-in-hand with too-easy arguments, but still...

So karosko, you didn't pick an easy team to root for in UNC? I mean the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb probably have a few wins.
My feeling is that most people consider other team's fans obnoxious and there are always a few that really are. I also think that most fans pick a team for geographical reasons or are "born into" that team's fan base. To say that UK fans and Yankee fans "chose" an easy team to root for is fucking ridiculous.

I've been all around this country (Memphis Tigers, AZ Cats, Kansas) and I've never seen such diehard, knowledgable fans as at UK. Crazy, yes. Obnoxious, often times. But they love their basketball here and they support their squad like no other. I oversee the team's training table meals, so I'm a bit biased, being around them every day; but Calipari has definitely found his home at UK. And this is just the tip of the dynasty. You will have plenty more years with which to hate.

And until you have a freshman 6th man go #3 overall(or better), settle down with the "our freshmen are the best!!!" speech.
You're really cherry picking with your stats.
He was alluding to the fact that John "I'll pay you better than the NBA" Calipari is somehow a magician of freshman talent. It's not like he's the only guy who consistently gets freshmen players drafted in the first round.
I'd rather have guys want to stay for a few years under Roy Williams than have guys play under Cal for a season, feel the NCAA investigative heat (since they'll always be keeping an eye on Cal) and sprint to the NBA. Also, the guy has never won anything, so I don't get where this sense of invincibility comes from.

you're a red sox and unc fan. stfu.
I just hate Kentucky and their fans is all.
Also I became a Red Sox fan when I was 10 in 1997, long before they won their first championship. Hard not to root for a team that hasn't won in so long when your dad's a diehard fan of said team.
Despite Arizona coming off a loss to MSU I am gaining confidence about what our team is capable of this season. The freshmen are continuing to develop and our top recruit PG Josiah Turner seems like he is starting to realize that he is going to have to work hard to be an elite player. We are going to struggle in the front court all season, especially defensively. We are going to dominate from behind the three. As we continue to improve our assist to turnover ratio and get better production out of our bigs we will get good, very good.

Ridiculously excited for Wisconsin-UNC on Wednesday. I've pretty much decided to skip Beirut for it. KenPom actually has UW at 54%. I don't think they're going to win, but if it's anything like the 2005 Elite 8 matchup I'll be thrilled.

Hopefully Barnes can play. Otherwise they're going to figure the Giant from Big Fish, and that doesn't exactly give me the warm and fuzzies.

So much for #1 vs #2, this coming saturday. Oh well, it's too early to consider ranks and still should be one helluva game. Can't wait. Tickets to Rupp are ridiculous, $1000 and up.

Looking at the box score now from last night...UNC played 14 guys? What? How is that even possible. A few guys were only 1 minute but that's still crazy.
And apparently they played 15 the game before. Woah.

Roy Williams always puts scrubs in for the last-second plays so his starters don't get stupid fouls.
And UNC/UK will be a great game. I might go to a UK bar in Manhattan just to piss people off.
