I'd personally prefer to go with the minimum posts but around here I think this may work best. It may force some people into lurking around and finding the answers to their questions before having the ability to start 10 duplicate threads.
It wont stop the trolls but I think it will help with that anyway. I mean good lord I love getting new members as much as the next guy but I can only so politely tell people about Weds night so many times.
When was it, exactly, that you "so politely" told anyone, anything? Maybe post #10,212 (back in Oct. '09)?

Most of Jess's posts are really polite. Sometimes him and Juggs go back and forth (mostly about Phish and quality of certain bands) and it gets heated but for the most part Jess is really helpful and polite on these boards. He gives just as much sarcastic/jokey responses as anyone.
Not sure what you're talking about but I don't find Jess to be the way you described him on here.....but maybe I just don't read all of his mean posts.

It's just that earlier I read an exchange between him and Garageland, in a different thread, debating the historical ownership interests of Live Nation and AC/Superfly -- and why it was, that the only "physical" tickets for Tom Waits '08 tour were for the Knoxville show (?)

Remind me when did I kick your particular puppy again? I wouldn't worry too much about my exchanges with Garageland he is a nice guy and we are friends who are able to discuss things just fine without the outside help of people who only come on here to be snarky and get clues for the lineup.

I'm actually a big fan of Jess. I get what he says, I think, just because he and I started around the same time.
I didn't take it as snarky. I really wouldn't read too much into that exchange. It was me who started it actually by bringing up something that didn't really matter.

An argument/debate/discussion with Garageland doesn't really jive into your original complaint though, which seemed to be that he's not polite to new board members. (but maybe I misinterpreted that).
I've known Jess for a few years on here and I've always felt he's one of the more fair guys on here....even when I disagree with him. Maybe he comes across to you as being too "know it all" or "i know better than you" but that could just be how you perceive it and not what he intends.
Either way......Jess is good people on here and in life

The mentality around here reminds me of the Elitist Jerks' website. They basically rip someone's balls off if they come in and ask random questions that have been answered or if the person has no clue what they are talking about. If I remember right they also have an email that goes out when you register. The whole thing made me too nervous to post there and I wonder if that might happen with a letter like Jugg's. That said, the site is well run and you don't have to wade through a bunch of crap (just a little crap) when you go to read. I agree with most of the letter except the whole redundant "and we will make fun of you/rip your heart out" parts which reminds me a little of elementary school. So that's my thoughts from a noob hoping to see Skrillex there
I don't know he does not appear to like me very much, I would buy him a beer at Yazoo for sure though.

Rather than a "minimum days of membership to post" requirement, I would like to propose a "minimum IQ to post" requirement. And I suggest that we make it retroactive. Lots of birds, one stone.
