Fuck it, I'm all in. Guilty pleasure or not, I like The Killers a whole lot. Plus I saw a live set of theirs on Palladia a few months back (it was at a festival in England or Ireland, can't remember which, but it was after Day & Age wa released) and it looked like an epic amount of fun. The Killers are nothing if not fun.
I would honestly be ecstatic if we got The Killers instead of Foo Fighters/RHCP. No bullshit.

Meh I could go either way on this one. I saw The Killers at Lolla 2005 and they were great, I saw them again a little while later and not so much.
I think out of the three I would go Foo's. I saw them once and they were only ok but I have heard from others that I should take this as being an off night for them. I have seen the Chili's 3 times and they were at best mediocre all three times.

I kinda feel the same way. I would check out their set, for sure, but it wouldn't be something I was overly excited about. Now, that could change depending on their new album....
While I'm all for them, it is worth noting that this idea picked up steam in about the last twelve hours based solely on speculation that they are "due" and they have a new album coming out.
The band doesn't even know when it's coming out (this summer or next winter) and there are no indications that a tour is imminent other than a mention that they are rumoured to be headlining a UK festival this summer.
So, while I'd be enthusiastic about a set from them it's probably best to temper our excitement right now because the odds are against them grabbing one of four or five unconfirmed top spots this year.

They did some one-offs last year, so even if they're not in the middle of a full blown tour this summer, they've shown that they're willing to take a break from the studio to hit up some festivals. I'd totally get down to Mr. Brightside.
i'm with bishop and alberto. wouldn't really get me excited but i think i'd prefer to see the killers over the foo fighters and chili peppers. it'd be better than kings of leon, i'll tell ya that. i'd probably take the chili peppers though if they were only doing pre-californication material.
They have been my guess from Friday headline for a while. I got to see them this fall at Orlando Calling and they were fantastic, really felt like a preview for them gearing up something big in terms of a stage show. Almost positive their new album will come out this year as well
The Killers have been my favorite band since Hot Fuss came out, they came out at the age when it was appropriate for me to love them in a teenage girl way. Still love them. I saw Brandon Flowers solo tour last year and I know they are finishing up their album "Battle Born" right now, and I expect a world tour soon after. We should hear something soon, they are always a want of mine for 'Roo.
Personally, I don't know how possible they are. Because they had to cancel the Asian portion of their tour supporting Day & Age, so I would expect them to start overseas. New album should be dope, and a headlining spot this year or next makes a ton of sense.
They were pretty bad when I saw them in 2005 before the Pixies, but then again everything I've seen and heard makes it seem that they are a much better live act these days.
They have some really great singles though. "All These Things...", "Mr. Brightside", "Read My Mind", and "Human" in particular.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
I think Sam's Town is a really solid album. They certainly aren't something I listen to much but as far as hugely popular modern rock The Killers are about the best in my opinion. I would easily take them over most other bands we are talking about for Friday night.
I'd love for the Killers to be at Bonnaroo. I saw them a couple years ago and almost got a DUI after; so seeing them where getting a DUI is almost impossible would be ideal.

I'm assuming this was Lollapalooza? I thought that set was really good. It really put them over the top for me.
Those two things are not mutually exclusive, Brandon Flowers.
Despite its silly lyrics, I really enjoy that song. It makes me happy. Which pretty much sums up how I feel about The Killers in general.
"On the band's official website, the biography section states that Flowers is singing "Are we human, or are we dancer?" and also says that the lyrics were inspired by a disparaging comment made by Hunter S. Thompson, where he stated America was raising "a generation of dancers". (Wikipedia)
